2014 College Baseball Thread
Re: 2014 College Baseball Thread
From the "I didn't know that rule" department....
Reed pitched today, gave up hits to the first four he faced, allowing two runs. Was dominant after that, allowing only 5 hits the rest of the way
Top 9, we're down 2-0, second batter gets on (only the fourth baserunner Kent State's pitcher allowed all game). Following a balk, Reed (playing DH in the hitting order) smashes a ball off the center field wall (if wind wasn't blowing it it's a two-run homer), so he's on second with one out. They lift him for a pinch runner, who eventually goes on to score on a bases-loaded, two out, two strike double that plates two. Cats end up getting four and taking a 4-2 lead to the bottom of the 9th.
Out onto the mound trots....AJ Reed.
Because he was pinch run for as the DH (hitting for himself, essentially), he was allowed to continue to pitch due to the fact that he hadn't been replaced on the mound. He finished off the game for the complete game victory and gives us a rematch with Kansas tomorrow, and hopefully a game later tomorrow w UofL.
As for Florida State....who the hell saw that coming???

Based on this, I thought Miami was out, apparently not though.Cnasty wrote:Florida state, Florida and Miami will be enjoying the cws from home this year after hosting regional and losing them. Miami has zero offense.

They had a situation in their game tonight that resulted in the Texas Tech 1B being escorted out by a cop or security guard.

Re: 2014 College Baseball Thread
LSU blew a 4-0 lead in the 8th last night and lost in 11, final game is tonight.
I swear I've seen LSU pull off that kind of postseason comeback 100 times, weird being on the other end of it.

Re: 2014 College Baseball Thread
Texas got somewhat of a gift with Houston upsetting LSU.
Texas historically has trouble with Houston but at home may help them take 2 of 3 next weekend. That is assuming the series is in Austin.
Some sure fire teams got upset this weekend. Love it!!!
