I'm sleeping since we worked a night shift. All of a sudden I hear talking over a loud speaker, "rocket launch, rocket launch, rocket launch." I wake up all confused as shit because we haven't gotten that an ounce mentioned before. I yell out to my fellow workers in the sleep tent but no response. Then the loudspeaker announces, "incoming, incoming, incoming" with a siren (alright I've heard this one before). I lay flat on the ground next to my bunk while trying to wake the other guys. Still nothing. Then the loudspeaker announces, "50 seconds to impact, 45, 44, 43.." I'm wondering how accurate the count down is and contemplate running to the hard building. But the worst thing to do is being upright when a rocket explodes near by. "30, 29, 28..." I hear our tent door open but nothing is said. "20, 19, 18..." Now I'm thinking of my life choices and why this career path speaks to my soul. "10, 9, 8..." All I can think about is my wife and son. Tell them I love them "3, 2, 1..impact impact impact!" 3 seconds go by,then 5 then 10.....I'm thinking what the hell is going on, surely I am not dead and my concious is just picking up from my last "alive" memory is it?!?

Another 10 seconds goes by and one of the guys who ran out to the hard building came back in and said, "that was a fucking test!"

That fucks with your head more than a rocket, unannounced, hitting within 300m. I'd rather be surprised than hearing a potential countdown to your posible demise.

Now I'm expected to go back to sleep so I can fly in 5 hours....whatever.

I wanted nothing to do with UAV'S once I retired. After 2 months of job searching to all these so called Veteran Friendly companies, the ones you see in the top 100 companies for vets, and getting a no thanks I asked the wife if I should entertain a deployment. We decided that we wouldn't agree on me leaving for less than $80k, a low ball number but I do believe in what we do here and I know I am better than most at this type of a job. So the chance to come over and keep other Americans alive by providing great ISR it was a no-brainer for me. I was offered a little more than $120k.

When my year is done here I may just get a job at Costco, a mindless type job stocking shelves. Or I may say fuck it and open up a bar, something I have always wanted to do

A large portion of that 120k is tax free to correct? Sucks to be there, but may make it better for the family in the long run

None is tax free right now.

I have to file paperwork at the end of the year to get it tax free. But you have to be in country 330 out of 365. If you are in country 329, you are screwed. But if you hit that magical 330 the first $100,800 is tax free, essentially meaning I will get back approximately $20k back. And if I finish my year j will get a $10k bonus from the company. I don't care about the money, it's nice don't get me wrong. But my bills are paid without me even working from Army Retirement.

Open up a kiosk selling little helicopters at the mall.

I think George should get his liquor licence for a food truck. Whenever they have all those masses of food trucks no alcohol is ever served.
