Can't they adjust the regular frosting/cream mixture so it wouldn't melt or couldn't we have the caterer or someone store it somewhere? It's only a 4" layer on top of a 6" layer since we are doing cupcakes for the rest of the 150-200 guests...I hate this wedding planning shit

You have a girlfriend? You are getting married?!?
You can't just drop the wedding cake stuff. Havent you learned from Peay that we love all the details of a budding romance in the NDL??
Congrats!

Just see if there is a place to store it.
When it came to my wedding, I only cared about a few things... #1 - My Ring, #2 - Dinner, #3 - Cake. Whatever else she wanted, she got.

3 more things than I cared about.
I can't think of anything I remotely cared to have a certain way for my wedding.

Oh no, if we didn't have good food/cake, I wasn't going.

1 for me, open bar.

I just wanted to be involved with the venue (outdoors and not in a church) and the rest I could really care less about.

How much did your tab end up running?

The open bar was a fantastic set up as the place let us buy our own liquor which we bought a crap load of in bulk and they just served it. We had so much left over.
So open bar for the attendees thinking they can have whatever they wanted and they did but plus for us as we got to buy all the liquor prior to and they just served it for us.
Win win!

Wait, I did have 1 thing. The ceremony had to be over and done super fast, and I got that one as I'm not sure it took 10 minutes even, 10-12 tops at the most I'm guessing.

Anything under 20 is a W in my book.
Also... take pictures before, just fake it.

That whole wedding then going to do 4,000 pictures at a local flower garden, then traveling another 20min to a reception hall is just whack.
My wife has roped me into going to at least 35, maybe over 40 weddings since we've been together. During the first 5 years we were engaged & married, she was actively involved in 16 of them. From all of that, there are 2 things that matter... it has to be fast and have good food. 12min is up there with the fastest that I've seen, I've also been to some that have been in the 45min - 1hr range (a long Catholic service and some kind of African tribal wedding).

Bridesmaids dresses are the worst... seriously, my wife has a closet full of them. I don't know why. She doesn't have anywhere to wear them. I should have her put them on Craigslist, isn't prom season coming up? Hell, if we can sell 2-3 that would be a start.

Open bar.
I am telling you. You will have a blast and actually enjoy your wedding, your attendees will as well, and it will be worth suffering through whatever else you are being dragged into.
Trust me on this.

Our reception was under 15 minutes. We had friends who showed up 10 minutes late and walked in as we were walking down the aisle.
You're right about the dress thing too, terrible. My wife is too damn likable apparently, as she seems to be in 2-3 weddings a year for the past 3 years or so. Between dress, bachelorette party, shower gift, rehearsal night etc it's like $1k/wedding on the light side. Killing me!

Cash bars are a drag, and dry weddings are a deal breaker. And it's not even about me needing to drink, I can generally have a good time dancing and whatnot without booze. But I know that's the exception, many need some alcoholic lubricant to get em out there

Exactly. It gets the dance floor going, everyone is interacting and mingling, you are actually enjoying your own wedding. Everyone will come back and say "hell of a wedding you guys had as I still remember that!" versus a lame party that you spent too much on and chintzed out on the biggest piece, the alcohol!

This.
Ceremony was less than a half hour. We took pictures after, but only the basic set, didn't need 15 group shots and even numbered guys with odd numbered girls and blah blah.
We got everyone out of there and sent them to the cocktail hour to get boozed, and then we took a few pics, and joined them. The ceremony is important, but doesn't need to be long. The party is what everyone remembers and talks about later. That's what you remember.

We were thinking of open bar for a period of time but not the entire 6-8 hours we have the place... 150 is the absolute minimum amount of people coming (she's Hispanic, I should've known better

) so that tab if we did the full time could be pretty insane I imagine

Mine was 7. That's pretty average for a big reception
Also:
She's hispanic? Cuervo and Corona open bar and you are golden.
