7:51 p.m. -- Musk says Superchargers won't be free for Model 3, its mass-market electric car next year, unless people buy an optional package that includes it. He says people should charge their cars where they charge their phones -- not at a gas station. They need to value their time.
If the 3 is as great as I expect it to be I would consider going full electric in the future but you are exactly right for now.shel311 wrote:Plus you have a 2nd car, you don't have to take the electric car on the long road trip that most people who'd get an electric car rarely ever take anyway.
Explain. Seriously, no sarcasm, I'm curious.Uuaww wrote:it's a big deal, and cracks me up that some of you guys actually know what I do with how obscure my job is.Seeitsaveit13 wrote:DRiccio21 wrote:big day in Ted's world

My job is to stop very bad bugs and diseases from coming into the country. 2 big examples of battles we have lost is with the emerald ash borer and citrus greening.Seeitsaveit13 wrote:Explain. the ash borer destroys ash trees. borrowing underneath the bark and killing the tree.
These are before and after images of the same street... all trees had to be removed.
here is another. Those trees are dead and will be cut.
There is no easy treatment. It came in off of a wooden pallet from Asia. It then got into our country and has just exploded. I check a lot of pallets to make sure they are treated so somehting like this doesn't happen again.
With Citrus Greening it is a disease that came in. It is now fully engulfed Florida citrus
The asian psyllid transmits the disease and it does not have a cure. It came over from Asia in 2005. This is why you can't take citrus out of Florida to California and other places in the the US. This disease makes fruit smaller and not visually appealing. Most Florida citrus is made into juice because of this.
Those are just 2 that have fucked shit up. With agriculture being a huge part of our economy, I'm trying to make sure bad insects and diseases don't come into the country as well as federal noxious weeds. Kudzu is a bad one that has done a lot of damage in the south and elsewhere.
