Regular season career:
.287AVG,.381OBP,.549SLG,.930OPS

World Series career:
.455AVG,.576OBP,.795SLG,1.372OPS (only 59AB)

I will understand your sample size reply as I can see it coming but the guy just has an extra gear in the world series and ignites a team.

Stats all day but the guy is a leader in the post season and batting .688 and reaching base 19 times out of 25 plate appearances is just ridiculous in a World Series.

So, here's the obvious question, why can he only summon this gear in the World Series?

Why wouldn't he reach that gear in the AL playoffs, especially thinking on series they did not win and his 455/576/795/1372 would have been a big help to possibly winning the series?

My answer, it's random. :)

I have no idea what the contract situation is for some of the other, better TIger players, but it may be for flexibility in extending those guys to new deals, which would make sense.

Yea, prince has a monster deal.

And so far no other players involved so may be 1 for 1 and he has waived his no trade clause as Texas was on his list.

Cano to the Mariners? That would be huge, and finally put a big bat in the middle of our young lineup. The only thing that scares me besides the 200 Million, would be..is he going to end up like every other big guy we sign? Fall apart...haha.

I think it's to good to be true, but who knows...money talks, I guess we will see how bad he wants to stay a Yankee.

If Mike Trout was magically a free agent right now, what kind of contract would he be able to get from a team?

I think its about $5M/1war or something. if thats the case Trout is worth $50 mil/yr and anything less is a steal. Take into account how young he is, and how good he'll be, $40/yr for 10 yrs would probably be a steal

It sounds nuts but 10 years/$400mil was about exactly what I was thinking.

he had a WAR of 10.2 in 2012 and 9.3 in 2013

that's 'roughly' around where Pujols was in regards to WAR... given he'd be signing the deal at 10 yrs younger the age I'd say that he'd be somewhere in the 10+ yrs 350-400 mil range and he'd be a steal if he kept up this performance thru those years.

much of the Pujols deal was assumed they'd be getting the first 4 or 5 years at a discount to what his value was and the last 5 they'd be getting a detoriating player that they'd be overpaying but over the course of the deal it'd balance. his age risk looks like that's causing it to not be true.

with Trout, he doesn't have the age risk, if anything we can assume he's going to get better. the risk comes with injury and paying a luxury tax or that he falls off a cliff after getting paid.

its roughly that in terms of getting value...but when you pay on free agency, typically you're paying closer to 6 or 7 to get fair value.

i was just thinking about it. how do they come to the value? is it total war in the league divided by total salary and then they get per war?

Sox looking to sign Edward Mujica from the Cards.

Would be a great get to strengthen the bullpen even more.

Cano to Mariners for 10 years, $240mil.

Hmmm
