Re: MMA / UFC - Official Thread
I was in Vegas for the fight this weekend. I saw one dude fighting a guy he literally would have probably killed with his bare hands if Herb Dean wasn't there to stop it.
Herb had to physically pull Khabib off of Connor and Khabib was still ready to maul the shit out of him, talking shit and looking like he was gonna throw blows after homeboy just got choked out, lol.
I absolutely LOVED (much like Shel) him going into the crowd. Say what you want, it was a gangster ass move made by a guy who gives zero fucks about money, just wants to smash his opponents, and anyone else who smeared his family and religion. I say good for him.

There were reports of Danis calling him a fucking Muslim rat during the bout.
Khabib also made a statement today. Threatened to leave the organization if they released any of his teammates.

Danis always has been a DB. He's a punk kid leeching off of Conor. I wish he wasn't under contract with Bellator. He's a helluva grappler, but I'd imagine that Khabib would have no issue fighting him at 170 (Danis's weight class) and smashing him. I'd be ok with Khabib blasting him even if he didn't make the comments.
(I'm sure he did).

Just Dillon Danis stirring the pot and being punked by RDA. RDA would be giving up 15-20 lbs in any fight, sanctioned or not.

The whole fight leading up to that moment was pretty strong... but then to finish it like that, at the that time... wow! This fight played out exactly as you'd expect in the lead up... KZ is known for stalking his opponents and throwing bombs... Rodriguez is known for flash and creativity... we got it all and it was awesome!DRiccio21 wrote:That knockout last night might be one of the craziest I’ve ever seen

Real quick for the referee to call the Cejudo fight there?

Seems like it's been trending that way over the last 2 years. You'll still get the rare very late stoppage, but it's nothing like it used to be. I don't like it in this situation though. TJ was still acting in a defensive manner and not just panic wrestling (grabbing the first thing he sees, including the ref). Impressive by Cejudo, hoping we see it at 135 now.

My internet failed on me right before the final 2 fights so I didn't get to see them. But from what I heard was that Cejudo dropped him 3 or 4 times before the ref stopped it. Doesn't sound like a fast stoppage like Uncle Dana thought. I'm trying to download the fight so hopefully I'll have more insight this evening.

I don't think it was. He was being rocked for 15 seconds straight. He was put down to his knees at least 3 times. When the ref pulled Cejudo off of him, TJ fell to his elbow (didn't see it at first until DC pointed this out) rather than catching himself and posting on his hands. A clear sign he was out of it at that second. I think he could have continued but he would have just taken another 10 seconds of ass whippings before the ref would have had to save him.DRWebs wrote:Real quick for the referee to call the Cejudo fight there?
I love the Hardy scowl, he knows everyone hates him and it appears he enjoys that. I also think this was a very fitting way for him to lose. It shows he, not only isn't disciplined in real life (beating up a girl half his size), he just isn't disciplined in the fight game as well. Not once did he go over to apologize to Crowder. The audience was awesome with the booing of him and calling him an asshole.
Greggor Gillespie is relentless with his wrestling. His wrestling is on par with Cejudo inside the cage (make sure you read that I said inside the cage). Dude is needs a shot at a top 10 guy. I'm thinking Gathje, Iaquinta or Barbosa (probably in that order).
Looking at those rankings, who is the idiots that thinks Conor is the 4th best lightweight out there? He has lost half of his last 4 fights, and I truly think he lost the second fight with Nate but Uncle Dana couldn't have that. I dont think there is a guy in the top 10 that Conor could beat right now that is in the UFC (Alverez isn't in the UFC anymore).

Gregor hasn't fought anyone that is a serious counter threat. I'd like to see him against that tier of guys as well. The nonsense I was reading about him facing Khabib was crazy. Khabib smesh.

He doesn't deserve Khabib. Maybe a signature win against Porier or Ferguson then sure. I see him as no different than Jon Jones. A lot of people didn't think Jones deserved a shot so quickly either (don't read into me saying Gregor is as good as Jones). I would love to see a Gregor versis Khabib because the wrestling/grappling would be insaneReignOnU wrote:Gregor hasn't fought anyone that is a serious counter threat. Re: MMA / UFC - Official Thread
I'm not as sure as you are that it would be great. I give Khabib a large advantage in the ability to finish the takedown. Then it becomes a matchup of being effective from top control, which has always been his strength. Khabib's sambo experience is huge when facing traditional wrestling styles.GeorgesGoons wrote:He doesn't deserve Khabib. Maybe a signature win against Porier or Ferguson then sure.
