In Seattle the air is usually heavy, there is little wind that affects the game in Safeco and the ball doesn't travel. The elements in Seattle are different than New York, therefore 330 foot HR's are harder to come by in Seattle than in NY...

If that's the case, then I'm not missing anything.

I stand by my statement, a ball that travels 330 feet in NY and 330 feet Seattle travels 330 feet in NY and 330 feet in Seattle.

You are still missing it.

The same ball off the bat does not travel the same. So a ball that travels 330ft in New York WILL NOT (for you nick) travel 330ft in Seattle.

Just like a ball that travels 330ft in Colorado won't travel 330ft in New York...

Physics shell, physics...

are you trying to play some weird semantics trick here?

yes, this is true... but a ball that travels 330 feet in NY may not travel 330 feet in Seattle, which is what they are saying.

Yes.

It was a joke based on Coug's response with the dimensions.

Sheesh, tough crowd. Next thing I know, you guys are gonna try to convince me that it's easier to hit home runs playing at Colorado due to the thin air!!!

To be fair, I was genuinely confused when Reign said my post shouldn't slide.

I thought my initial post piggybacking your post was obvious enough, but it clearly wasn't since multiple guys missed it. That's on me, I'll take the blame.

I'll do better next time, guys...unless I don't.

its roughly that in terms of getting value....
I must be valuing my players very incorrectly in OOTP, though I think I'm getting great deals in the end.

When I see a guy have a season with a 2.0 WAR, I don't see that as a real solid, $10mil/year type effort. 3.0 or more is usually when I am "impressed", but the numbers would suggest I'm way off there.

Time to do some reading and revaluing.

I know my OOTP team has an outrageous payroll, but if I were to do it based on WAR, I think I may be getting value on these guys.

need to know the total amount of WAR in MLB and in OOTP to make better decisions. Different worlds for all we know a 5.0 WAR guy in OOTP is a regular when its rare in the pros (just an example)

Halladay is signing a 1 day contract to retire as a Jay :( *Light years*
