CoD question

Back when I used to play MW2 on 360, I remember having a big problem when I was trying to get into games with a party of about 4-6+ people.
We'd form our lobby, look for a game (usually ground war because of the 18 people as we tried to circumvent our problem), but it was like the game would find a match in progress that didn't have as many open slots as we had people. What this meant was random people would get kicked from our party, and we'd inevitably have to start the process over again. When this didn't happen, it'd just sit at the "waiting for lobby" screen until our patience ran out.
Now, Battlefield won't do this. You can only have a squad of 4, but regardless, it will find a game you can all play in. The downside to this is sometimes that game has about 5 people total, and since it never puts your squad on a different team, the game ends up really lopsided numbers wise.
I'm contemplating getting back into MW2, but i'm worried about this problem. Since you steers and queers circle jerk with this game all of the time, I was wondering if you've encountered this problem, and if you have, how you have gone about getting around it.
Cheers.
