My father and mother were very fortunate in that throughout his cancer his company never moved him from short term disability and my mothers work was very flexible. If they had not been so fortunate I couldn't imagine what they would have gone through to get things paid. There is a local charity that my fathers oncologist works with called, Gulfcoast Oncology Foundation gulfcoastoncologyfoundation.com. They help others in the area who have lost their jobs and short term disability to pay for every day expenses like groceries, and other things like rent and utility bills. What I'm pushing is, if you're looking for a charity to donate to please find a local foundation that helps cancer patients deal with bills they can no longer afford. I know it's just a drop in the bucket but if my fathers passing can help anyone, I hope it's getting people the support that he was fortunate enough to have through his company and our family and friends.
