so what happens when u get to 50?

u have a choice to "start over" and u get a special emblem?

but you lose all your weapons/cash?

if you're an occasional player like me, and i get to 50, is there anything wrong with just staying at 50 so when i actually do hop on, i can play with "good" guns and shit?

You get extra stuff and an extra custom class spot. You do lose guns and money. You don't have the prestige if you don't want to.

Seems like every time I go to prestige I get a disk read error and have to reboot. Hopefully they fix it with the next patch.

Not sure, some extra skins for your playercard. I havent looked around since I prestiged

9th prestige you can add color to your clan tag, 14 gets you golden gun camo and each one gives you a new face paint I believe.

The first few games after you prestige are a pain in the ass. I made it worse on myself when I accidently purchased C4 instead of the claymore.

I have always played the other ones. I am sure I am only class D caliber but let me know if I can hook up with some of you to play.
