I don't think that's right though...in the NBA the 3 division leaders can be anywhere from 1-4 seed, if a team in the same division has a better record they would be a higher seed.

(If you look at the real NBA standings for the West Dallas is currently the 3 seed even though the Spurs are 1)

Quick Hitters for Monday May 23rd

-- Toronto out of the gates real fast at 6-0. While Kobe has been good, the real story is the play out of Terrance Williams who has been 2nd in the team in scoring at 10.8 in just 14 minutes per game.

-- Orlando and OKC are both 5-1. Impressive starts for 2 good owners. Orlando's only loss is to Toronto while OKC got rocked by the Hawks.

-- Most surprising start might be the 3-1 record of the Cavs. TheNiddler has the boys playing.

-- Thru 3 games, Kevin Durant (Suns) is averaging 29.3 points on 69.6% shooting. With 16 points per game coming in the paint, it'd make sense to start putting a double team on this guy.

-- Roy Hibbert (Mavs) is cleaning up the glass, averaging 7.7 rebounds per game thru 9 games.

-- Ray Felton (Thunder) is averaging 10 assists per game thru 6. Very impressive.

Power Rankings
1. Houston
2. Toronto
3. Orlando
4. Atlanta
5. OKC

nice work dave!

i really hope i don't have another game like that Hawks game...6 points in the 1st quarter killed me!

Felton's been a huge addition to the Thunder, just hope he keeps it up

State of Season 2

Season 2 took a while to get off the ground with a disastorous end to season 1 and with the PSN crisis. After a long hiatus, the league began. Without knowing what to expect in terms of gameplay, I'm more than impressed with the action in the league. With half the league already playing 10 or more games we're well on our way to another successful season.

One thing I'm beginning to notice is improved competitiveness througout the league. Guys who sucked in season 1, don't suck as bad in season 2. Guys who were average in season 1 are starting to become contenders in season 2. This is helping the competitive balance of the league and we're starting to see some new faces near the tops of the standings/power rankings.

With any success comes concerns. The style of some players has certainly caught my eyes. Not enough teams are working in their bench's enough. Too many points are being scored in the paint and guys are starting to play with what seems to be a much more 'win at all costs' menality. Please understand this isn't a cry for everyone to play the same style, its not i promise. I want guys to be individuals and play their styles. I'm also not making rules that say 'you have to score under 50% of your points outiside the paint' or anything like that. I'm hoping (and praying) that some of you can be honest and reflective enough to look at yourself and say, 'hmmmm maybe score 70% of my points in the paint is a little excessive' or 'maybe having the same guy lead my team in scoring and shots attempted 20/20 games is a little silly' or 'maybe the fact i play my starters 3 straight quarters to build up a lead then bench them the 4th so it looks like i'm playing my bench is a little shady'.

Overall, besides TBall and VVV, we've had good success with owners being active. At this point you should be over 7 or 8 games so you can take a look at know where you stand. We got a nice boost with Corey helping out taking over the doormant Heat team and Baker is going to take over for either TBall or VVV today. If you are active and want to figure out a way to help out, look for the guys with less games played when you are looking for your daily game. It's always easy to hop on and get MGR or myself or AJ for a game... take the extra 5 minutes and look for peay or keggy or footballkelly (just random examples) or send them an email/text/pm.

Finally, i think the league is going to go strong and help lead us into the release of NCAA and we've learned from our mistakes in season 1 so the playoffs will be a success this season. I'll start to update you on timelines as we progress, probably in the next week or so. In the meantime, keep up the good work.
