Headsets

What kind of headset is everybody using? I'm just using the playstation one that came with confrontation. I've never had any problems with it and the battery life is really good, but I'm tempted to buy a nicer one. Do the turtle beach headsets really help? The one I'm looking at is the PX5. This sounds cool:
With the press of a button, you can completely change your sound environment and hear sound cues you’d normally miss. For instance, you can isolate the sound of footsteps in the distance while gunshots are blasting all around you or hear the clink of a bullet shell falling on the floor.
And this would be a good feature for when Mike gets online after walking up a set of steps:
Chat presets manipulate the voices from XBOX Live and PlayStation Network chat. Have a teammate or friend who's always huffing and puffing into the mic? Just load up a preset that kills off really quiet chat sounds so you don't have to listen to the breathing.

I have a PX21 Turtle beach and the sound quality is excellent. They are wired and look like 1980"s headphones but awesome chat and game volume.

I look at these things every time I am in best buy or game stop. I just have never been able to bring myself to drop $100 on a headset.

Nevermind then. Didn't read the fine print.

Still, there are multiple sub-$100 options on Amazon.

Do these things play ALL of the sound (aka you have the TV on mute) or are they just playing the chat?

Should be all for the closed ear headphones. Some of them that do the 5 channel or 7 channel can sound pretty awesome as well.

There was supposed to be some really nice official Sony ones coming out. I haven't checked in a while to see if they are out or when they were coming out.

I've got a turtle beach one and it helps tremendously. You can actually hear enemy footsteps around you.

I think you can basically mute the TV completely and still hear all the game sounds. And the mic input should be a seperate setting.

Though maybe I should let other people that have these things answer.

Yes AJ, the Turtle beach gas 2 volume controls, 1 for chat which is how loud your teammates are and game volume. TV can be low and you can blast through headset.

the turtlebeach ones i got come with 2 cords.. a mic cord and a yellow/red/white.. so if u plug both in, the volume goes right into th eheadphones instead of the tv, and on the lil "remote" i guess is a mic volume and a game volume so ya
