This is the second time in 24 hours I've seen this w a custom playbook....I'd go to call a play and nothing showed. No formations, no plays, nothing.

So I backed out and did "ask a coach'....and nothing, just buttons. So I randomly selected one....and my guys came out, stood in a huddle around the football, and did nothing. I had to call a timeout and then finally everything showed up.

This happened last night in an NDL game and then tonight in an online dynasty game.

Anybody else encountered this?

basically keep all of your formation plays into sets of 3's that way it shows even on the play call screen also refrain from books like misst st oregon auburn and stuff as you base book.

best way to make sure it works is to play the cpu with the book and super sim until you on offense if you can make it thru a half then you should be good

EA play-testing at it's best!

I guess UNC's should be avoided too, as I have all 3s and still get it myself... guess i'll just keep tweaking and hoping. I notice that if you don't skip animations (which is a pain) it doesn't give the blank screen. In dynasty mode that is beyond a pain in the ass

Im using the Oregon PB as a base.....customized the hell out of it....and never had this happen. Also running a custom D playbook and havent seen any issues either. just sayin'

I haven't had an issue either. I'm wondering if it has something to do with the audibles or something. Also it could just be a random bug as it seems there are a lot of issues with this game. i.e. the no plays in play calling, in RTG and OD if you super sim sometimes the computer will punt on 1st and 2nd down, different teams are showing up in your teams info in OD, games that are won are somehow lost in OD. Funny they try to implement all this stuff that makes the game seem great in theory but the fact they can't get it right just makes the game hard to give compliments about, yet EA is blowing their own horn when it comes to these features. Too bad they don't work right.

Shift... have you read anything more on this? I just restarted an OD because we had this happen in week 1.

I have not, i just know it happened in one of my dynasties the other day. I don't think I would be as upset with these problems if EA was addressing them publicly and not just doing a patch and staying silent till it's released. I posted on their facebook page yesterday saying I don't want to see another blog or tip til you fix the bugs in RTG and OD modes. I think it's ridiculous they're not being more forward with information. This game is seriously broken with some of these bugs and it ruins some pretty good things they are trying to implement. My biggest fear is that when Madden comes out NCAA will just fall by the wayside with EA.

I have occasionally had it happen where the playscreen is blank, but I select a formation and everything shows again. Never the no play and huddle issue.

I had this happen in a game and a dynasty using my custom Stanford PB have all 3 plays in each formation blah blah blah. If this happens DONT CALL TIMEOUT. The guys bunched together will hit the def players and def will be called offside decline the penalty and the screen comes back to life. Thanks EA for the custom playbook feature its so not awesome.

I removed whole formations and not individual plays for my offensive and defensive PB and have had no issues...in the 2 games ive actually played.

I have tried pretty much everything people have posted here, and this still happens like 5 times a game when I try to use a custom book. I have just given up on it, and the effect on my offense if pretty evident.

Maybe this is something we should test out and implement as a fix for league/cup/ladder games... if you see a situation where the defense is hosed and is stuck with the bunch formation or kick return formation, then the defender should just run offsides and the O should decline the penalty. I can't see any downfall to this. Thoughts?

The 4 situations I've had, there is no solution. I couldn't back out, ask coach, change formations... nothing. Timeout didn't work the 2x I tried that, it just gave me the same thing. So I'm not even sure the offsides thing will work either. It's like there is something in the engine that is telling it that it's a kickoff situation for the defense.

had a situation early on in a pre-season game. On defense, the special teams option was missing. Hitting coaches option, or Triangle wouldnt do anything but if I let the time expire, it would pick the right play. Havent seen an issue since with the same playbook.

It has happened to me in four of my league games. However, when nothing worked, it is where Beefy and I had to back out twice and restart the game. I read everything regarding the 3s, and did everything in your instructions on the original topic. I finally just picked a team playbook, that I am not familiar with and used it...very difficult and frustrating to deal with in league games (custom playbooks).

That patch can't come soon enough.
