Occupy Wall Street

Almost got into a fight with one of these idiots. A group of about 10 where protesting in front of the BofA Bank, where I normally use the ATM. Had my son with me and these two 20 year old idiots get in my face and in front of the ATM, about boycotting wall street and banks. Saying that I was as bad as the Corporations and CEOs I support. I was so pissed off about him stepping in front of me and my son that I think I told him I was going to gauge his eyes out with my pen if he didnt step away from my son. Guy seemed to realize my son was with me, apologized and left me alone.
Does anyone actually understand what they want? From what I read this mornings, the demands include..
1. Repealing the Bush Tax cuts (which means everyone, even those earning less than $10,000 will pay higher taxes)
2. Forgiving student debt (which means that the tax payer will end up picking up the tab, since most is owned by US Gov)
3. Prosecuting financial crimes (I thought Madoff, Sandberg, and the U booster are being prosecuted)
4. Raising taxes on the wealthy
Are there anymore that I might be missing.

The majority of the toolbags that are protesting don't even know what they are protesting about.

Haven't paid much attention to it, but I saw this a couple weeks ago. I think Trendon will love this.

Which is correct, but I support them. Too many people who are 100% right and 100% knowledgeable about a situation ... do nothing but complain to their wife at home.

what did they think would be the outcome when EVERYONE earns a trophy back when little, and now that when they do nothing they are not rewarded?
Everyone should be given the same opportunity to succeed, but everyone is not entitled to succeed. I dont understand why people complain when they see corporations are making record profits and still not hiring people. Is that not the point of running a buisiness? Many places are seeing how much fluff they were carrying back pre-2007/2008 and are able to produce at similar levels at fractions of the cost. If I had a business, I would not increase my payroll if I was not going earn more back than the cost of hiring the person.

This is what happens when hippies have kids that turn out to be hippies. I can say nothing nice about these people at all.

What part of their message do you support?

The effort. That's what I support. Sort of a, "Thanks for doing something ... anything!" kind of attitude. In my letters thread, Niddler raised the point of my vulgarity. There is a reason for that aside from me just amusing myself. I used to sit on town hall meetings all the time and I became friendly enemies of Congresswoman Sue Kelly for quite a while. Just a few years ago, a developer who always got sweetheart deals from the government on property got the sweetheart deal of a fucking lifetime on some of the most prime real estate you could imagine here in Westchester County, NY. People went nuts. It is Ratner (who is involved in the hated Atlantic Yards development in Brooklyn) and Capelli, who has seemingly single-handedly built every prime structure in my county. Anyway, nobody liked this. I went to a couple of town hall meetings about it and I quickly learned one thing:
1. If you are polite, diplomatic, and well-versed in the situation, you will not be heard.
2. If you scream and curse, shit gets done.
That's why I just root for people to cause havoc. These pols and big business can get away with screwing people because they do it ... and nobody but the AARP says a peep.

Trendon, are you saying you support:
- Their cause. Specifically their demands, or
- People going out and causing havoc in general. (So if me and 5 guys went out with baseball bats and started busting up the windows on residential homes, demanding that people give the government 10% of their money so I can have a job, you would support me?)
I just want to make sure.

You are getting to be more retarded than Davey. This Occupy Wall Street is pretty peaceful.

When someone gets in my face in the presence of my 2 year old, it stops being peaceful. I am trying to figure out if you specifically support for "this" protest or for protests in general. I assume you support protest in general because it fits my mental image of "Trendon." And if you support this protest, maybe you can explain to me what it is about since somone felt strong enough to act the way they did while I was trying to get cash so I could pay for dinner.

This is what I figured Trendon meant and if he does, then more power to him. Otherwise I was hoping of getting a general summary of the OWS protest to get a feel for what they are about because I dont have a very positive impression based on what I have experienced and read. It seems like a bunch of spoiled brats who dont want any responsibilty for the actions they have done (dont want to pay back debts they have taken).

With all respect, please spare me the "think of the children" angle. Some boob jumping up and down and arguing with you while he is present ranks somewhere between "having to slam on the brakes because the guy in front doesn't use a blinker" and "having your car payment double-charged" on the list of atrocities he will have to deal with.
In fact, the more I hear comments like this, the more I am for this protest because I feel that too many people (I heard the endless complaints about the traffic on the Brooklyn Bridge and FDR, so I am not picking on you). "Just trying to get dinner" or "how dare they interrupt my drive home" seems like a comment from someone who would be saying that same comment whether or not these protests rang 100% true with their ideals. I don't like it; I am sorry. There is an amazingly wide line between apathy and outright terrorism, yet nobody in this country (or world, if you want to look beyond that) seems to be able to find it, so you either do nothing and complain to Jack at the water cooler or blow shit up. Those few who do - this OWS group - see that and are just dancing on the space between the aformentioned two. Sadly, they fucking suck at it.
This movement needs to be co-opted or it will die as it is already diluted to the point of almost being meeaningless. Shit, you think a few harsh words from some town crier is a major thing. Obviously, you are not terribly impressed with the message. However, the anger and frustration that has been tapped here is very real but they just don't have focus, so this guy thinks harrassing you at the teller machine is big coup for him. Meanwhile, the fucking MSM is painting the movement by interviewing the biggest douche bags in the crowd
The tea party movement tapped the very same frustration and anger but had direction and purpose very early on: small government and complaints of over-taxation. You may not agree with the tea party but it was a wild success. You have a group that did not exist one election ago that managed to elect several members of Congress and shook up nearly every local election. Yeah, the results have sucked because they have one of the same problems as OWS (that their figureheads appear to be criminally insane) but they damn sure shook things up in the establishment and I applaud them both. However, as we all know, the method sucks. Even still, I hope the noise that has been generated and the anger and frustration with our broken fucking system evolves into something that creates the political will to effect real change. We all know the status quo has not been working for some time now.
So, sorry if your trip to the ATM was unpleasant. From here on out, I hope you and your kin live a life without complication, dissension, or disorganization if that is a major cause of anxiety for you.
