Here is a guide that I hope will help make sense of what I'm doing. Let me know if I can change something in it to make it even better.

Thanks for doing this quack, I will play around with it when I have time.
The only thing that I see that may be an issue is the 1024 bitrate. While that is good in theory, many people's Internet connection may result in that kind of bit rate continuously pausing as it has to keep buffering the video.
I know with flash files though, you can do more than normal.
I will try it out and see how it goes.
Thanks again for your help.

Yeah I might lower it, just got Crimsons xml file and I'm comparing and the biggest thing I see is he is running
Bitrate: 200
Also in advance settings:
Profile: Baseline
Level: 2.1
Key frame frequency: 5 seconds
I might tweak with these settings to see if that smooths up anything.
The other thing that might be helping him is camcorder via firewire vs usb webcams but my stream yesterday seemed to do okay so I'll experiment and update the guide if I figure out anything.

Yeah, bitrate of 200, I think the quality would look really crappy from a USB camera, but his was smooth as hell.
I will have to play around with mine too.
Using the flash encoder may be helping to smooth things out too and may be making 200 bit rate look better than just going through justin.tv and choosing the webcam broadcasting option.
Let me know what you come up with though.
We can broadcast to each other too so we can see what each other's looks like and give feedback as we tweak it.

Yah, Crimson's game last night looked fantastic! So, he was using a camcorder with firewire, if I understand correctly? And he was going thru this Adobe Flash Live Media Encoder?

From what I can tell, with a webcam I still have to use 5.1 and Main, plus I made a mistake his was set to Main not Baseline. I'm still tweaking with things, I think it has more to do with the quality of camera.

Finding a camcorder with firewire is just a bitch. I really want to go that route, but probably will give up. All I ever see online are used ones from camcorders that are no longer produced. So now I wonder, would I get a better video if I used a top notch $100 USB webcam or if I used a USB camcorder?

I don't know about the usb camcorder but here's two videos trying different video settings with a webcam. I can't tell much difference between them but it looks like vp6 might stream smoother. It's also hard getting all the colors right.

Under Video Format you can either choose H.264 or Vp6. In the guide I had H.264 but I have been reading more today about how Vp6 might give better quality. You can make the choice for yourself. I think I may try tweaking the settings with Vp6 because from what I can tell it streams better.
Unfortunately again, this will never be perfect or look as good as Crimsons can with the firewire camcorder.
