Use the larger buttons for no-strum solos

Here's an easy way to modify your guitars so that you can use the larger fret buttons on solos and you don't have to strum but can still use them as you would normally. I don't know if I'll do this simply because I don't trust myself to not screw up the guitar in some way but some may want to try it.

The solo buttons on the Rock Band Stratocaster controller are a great addition to “rhythm game” controllers. However, they can be difficult to use during gameplay, especially if you have large hands. Wouldn’t it be great if you were able to use the standard fret buttons to act just like the solo buttons, ie no strumming during solo sections or Big Rock Endings? Well, that’s what this extremely simple mod sets out to do.
This mod should only take about 5-10 minutes to complete.
Supply List:
1 Phillips Head Screwdriver
Step 1 - Remove Screws:
Using your screwdriver, remove the 16 screws from the back of the guitar body as indicated in the picture below:
Step 2 - Remove Button Ribbon Cable:
Find the ribbon cable for the buttons as indicated below:
This picture (above) was taken from a first generation controller, so your’s may not look exactly the same inside, but the ribbon cable is in the same location on all versions of the Strat controller.
You can now remove the ribbon cable from the connector pins by gently pulling the cable back.
Step 3 - Flip Ribbon Cable Upside Down:
Flip the ribbon cable upside down and reattach the cable to the connector pins.
Step 4 - Reattach Guitar Body:
Line up the guitar body bottom and top pieces and tighten all screws that were removed in step 1.
