Manny Torres pitched brilliantly - eight innings of one-run ball - but Morgan Morrissey nearly gave it all away in the ninth. He allowed two straight singles to start the inning before allowing a run to score on an error. Ultimately, Salvador Garcia got Leonard Ross to groundout with the tying run on second.
Carolina 4 Hartford 3 (CAR leads 1-0)
Steven Hays threw a complete game and Doug Jenkins allowed six runs in six innings as Port orange jumps up on Philly.
Port Orange 11 Philadelphia 3 (PO leeads 1-0)
In a wild one involving the Wild Ones, Albany came back from defecits of 3-2 and 9-3 to win 11-10. Guess who - Jorge Reyna - hit his 11th career postseason home run as both teams combined for 33 hits.
Albany 11 NorCal 10 (ALB leads 1-0)
If Lawrence Franks haad the aid of some baserunners, this game might have been different. Instead his two home runs were only solo shots and that was enough for Sam Ruppert and the 'Cats.
Chicago 9 Sioux City 3 (CHI leads 1-0)
Game 2's
Leonard Ross hit a two-run shot off of Randy Young in the bottom of the sixth and John Johnston only allowed two unearned runs over eight as Hartford evens the series.
Hartford 4 Carolina 2 (Series Tied at 1)
The Hawks jumped all over Sean Clark, scoring four in the first two innings while Morton O'Quinn went eight, allowing only three runs.
Port Orange 5 Philadelphia 3 (PO leads 2-0)
The Bombers got seven extra-base hits and nine runs in the first five innings, a lead they would not blow this time around.
NorCal 14 Albany 4 (Series Tied at 1)
Rookie Kevin Thomas was sensational through 6.1 but the Chicago bullpen quickly gave up two runs to tie the game at two ... a score that would stand until the 17th inning when Juan Torror drove in Ronald Jones to win the marathon.
Chicago 3 Sioux City 2 [17] (CHI leads 2-0)
Game 3's
Howard Brewer held Hartford to only five hits but one of those was a Jonathan Sharp single that plated Michael Holt in the second; a lead that was good enough for Maurice Collier and three relievers.
Hartford 1 Carolina 0 (HAR leads 2-1)
P.A. Bourassa did not pitch like a number one starter but Nolan Gibbons hit like one ... ending the game in the bottom of the 11th after hitting another solo shot in the fifth.
Philadelphia 6 Port Orange 5 [11] (PO leads 2-1)
Angel Sanchez scattered six hits and allowed only an unearned run as Albany jumps up on NorCal.

Tom Seaver Trophy contender Doug Martin allowed only two runs over 6.2 but it was PH Beau Harrell that was the hero, driving in Eric Miller on a hit-and-run in the bottom of the ninth to get the Explorers back in the series.

It looked like another intense game until Javier Guerra hit a bases-clearing double in the eighth to spark a six-run inning and tie up the series.

Mike Smith - needed even more due to the injury to Ladd - throws a complete-game five-hit shutout to put Philadelphia on the ropes.
Port Orange 8 Philadelphia 0 (PO leads 3-1)
Bill Jackson was at his wild best, throwing nine wild pitches in 3.2 innings, but it still wasn't enough to lose the game as Ben Jones was even worse.
