Proposal: Make the NDL Farm the FCS

-- Create 12-24 FCS teams over two accounts via TeamBuilder (more can be added if needed, any account can hold up to 12 TeamBuilder teams)

-- Edit all players on roster to be an 80 OVR OR use same TeamBuilder default roster for all teams. Reason being, a team could be edited after downloading from the official NDL source. So thats why 80 OVR would be something easy to notice. Skim through your opponents roster at the normal substitution pause at the beginning of all NDL game to make sure there are no edits.

-- Nothing really changes, when you send a challenge to your opponent instead of to switching ranked to unranked, 5 min quarters to 7 min quarters, you also switch TeamBuilder Teams to yes and you can use TeamBuilder teams and challenge the same way.

-- So, after the teams are created all it would require is the additional steps of downloading a TeamBuilder team by the user and just doing a quick skim through of your opponents roster during the traditional substitutions pause and you have added a whole new aspect to the NDL that might even peak the interest of NDLers wanting a part of the FCS action and a bring a new life to the Farm, a life line of the league.

Good idea? Something Im forgetting that would make this difficult to implement? Let's get some discussion going.

I think that is a cool idea man. So would they recruit? Because they would be in an OD basically correct? Might cause some confusion when they get to the NDL and its not like that...not to say that is a deal breaker in the least.

No they wouldn't recruit, it'd be the same online head-to-head football just using TeamBuilder teams which would be FCS schools created and approved by the NDL.

Makes sense to me. Could be a fun way to get into the league.

Hell, I'd want to just make my College in the FCS and stay there.

That is an awesome idea! Only problem is you might have teams not want to play, they would take quite teh crushing blow losing to an FCS team haha, But that would be an awesome idea!

That is an awesome idea. Making sure they aren't editing the rosters would be the toughest part but overall it's a great idea.

I would definitely be down to help create some teams if Sudden was interested. I was a big teambuilder nut on '10 when it first came out and made a ton of teams including the entire Missouri Valley Conference and all the small schools in Arkansas.

As someone who just came up through the Farm, I think it would be an awesome idea. It would really affirm the idea that you're being called up from the minors.

While it is a fine idea - good even, keep in mind the guys who run this league(s) are volunteers. We have work, family and the rest of the time consuming "life" items that we deal with. We have to weigh all commitments for any type of change against the workload we currently have in our NDL commitments and the desire to maintain a personal life.

While the idea is pretty and looks good in 4-5 sentences on a message board, the bottom line is that there is shitload of man hours that would go into this from an admin perspective. Not only is the setup work listed more than anyone wants/needs to bite off, but multiply the process by EACH new guy that comes along that we have to explain the process to with Team Building and all that.....and not just the tech saavy guys, but the guys who are somewhat new to all this.

Sudden runs the farm (and is doing a fantastic job) but there is no way we're gonna put further requirements on him to and his staff to deal with. (not to mention the changes/programming holmey would have to do for the boards

that being said, anyone can go to Sudden, volunteer to run something like this and see if he has the bandwidth to manage it even this way as well as get with holmey re: the changes. if he respectly says no, he's in charge and thats the end of it.

Not looking to discourage anyone but speaking from a big picture of the league in terms of what we can do on the time we do commit to making the NDL run smoothly.

Thanks
