On a serious note, wish all you prays and good lucks to those that will be near the storms path. Some say no power for a week or longer, even calls going out from Power Company...lots of water and batteries and candles! I am guessing some of the deadlines (Maybe the Cup games) will be extended. Hopefully it's not as bad as they think it will be.

Yep, stay safe to all our NDL members in the path of this storm. I'm in Ohio and they are calling for alot of rain and wind. I ve seen storms blow up on Lake Erie before but watching the news last night they are calling for 15-20ft wave on the lake. Thats crazy.
Be safe everyone.

my biggest concern are the people who went through Irene and are thinking this is the same and that a hurricane is a hurricane and if you can ride one, you can ride another
lots of people, especially in Ny gonna be shocked if it hits direct

I remember watching one of those Discovery Channel shows and they were talking about the biggest threats to do serious damage from a direct impacting hurricane.
There was the obvious ones, New Orleans, Galveston, and maybe even Tampa. But NYC was a 4th. You never really think about it cause it's so rare.

I saw some pictures and they have a little piece of plywood and sandbags covering entrances to the subway stationsn
That definitely isn't going to hold up but I guess what else can they do?
Plus they are saying a cold front will mix with it? Imagine a "cold" hurricane???thats like some Mayan shit

This time of year, yes. We had an amazing 49 days of no precipitation in August and September. But we have had probably 15+ straight days of some sort of precipitation since then.
I would also like to know how the South is viewing the "storm of all storms" with the category 1 Hurricane. They are like category 1? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?
In all seriousness, for a region that doesn't get storms like this, preparation is going to be key. Stay safe all.

yup...still though, we know most of the northeners are worried about the winds and stuff....which is bad but its cat 1..be prepared and safe and you "should" be safe
where people are gonna fuck up is underestimating the storm surge
you can read the web or see on tv "5-8 ft" storm surge and think its not a big deal....but thats alot of fucking water and its not a wave....its literally like the whole bay moves and in is now where land used to be
people trying to ride it out are gonna be fuggggggggged

subways always get flooded, not a huge deal
my boy in RI just sent me a picture text a 70ft tree in his backyard that got comletely uprooted and he said the storm hasn't even really hit them yet. pretty crazy pic since it wasn't snapped in half or anything, it was completely uprooted
