Injury (Weasel) and possible legal (?) help

So just wrapped up an awesome week at SXSW here in Austin, capped off with winning tickets to see Prince at a private show last night (less than 300 people). The 3-hour show was fucking epic by the way.

But back to why I'm writing this. During the show, something out of nowhere hit me in the face/eye. My face immediately welled up and when I was able to see clearly again I realized that streamers had been shot into the crown. They had been shot out of little cannons mounted above the stage and pointed towards the crowd. Now the venue that we're in is tiny, hence why only 300 people. These streamers were obviously rolled up and intended to unravel as they're shot out, however I'm only standing about 15 feet from the stage, not a long distance for these streamers to unravel when shot out at a high speed. My friend and some other concert goers are asking me if I'm ok and although I'm in a lot of pain, I wasn't missing this once in a lifetime show.

After the show is over and the lights come up, my friend is able to see what happened:

So first of all, Weasel (or anybody else)...is this something I should be worried about? I haven't seen a doctor yet or gone to urgent care because my insurance has a really high deductible. It's really sore and there's an overall stinging pain when I open and close my eyes. I've read a couple things online that say it might get cleared up in about two weeks but to get it checked by an eye doctor to make sure there's not further damage.

Second, is the concert venue/SXSW liable for an injury like this? I should have talked to somebody there after the concert but didn't. I actually didn't get to see my eye myself until I got back home and looked in the mirror. I'm not looking to sue or anything but I just want to go to the eye doctor and make sure everything is fine and I don't feel like I should have to pay my high deductible due to the venue's negligence.

Any advice would be appreciated guys. Thanks.

1) Usually the venues have things in the ticket fine print that covers them on incidents like these

2) By leaving without talking to someone first, you may have hurt your case; they could easily say it was something else that caused it.

Yea, leaving without notifying someone definitey may have screwed you, who knows.

Not saying you're wrong, but I wonder where the line is drawn on this. I mean, at some point, the venue has to be responsible for unforeseen type injuries. I mean, if you get a black eye in a mosh pit(some rowdy Prince fans), I get the venue not paying for that, but this seems different. And if they don't pay for something like this, I wonder how far you have to take an injury out before they do have to pay for it, despite what the fineprint may say.

Yea not stopping and talking to someone and leaving you have no leg to stand on that one. But you didn't know.

Also, Ence is probably right with that fine print anyways but people have won cases or compensation for crazier things.

I've seen people with those red splotches a lot and they normally clear up in a couple weeks but not sure the treatment plan to there and will let the good doc chime in.

Heard sxsw was awesome so it was worth it I'm sure. Good luck

1- once you left without saying anything to anyone, its going to be tough to hold up.

2- wear goggles next time at a prince concert ;)

Injuries, aside, what a score that was. I hear the show was amazing. Huge Prince fan here. My wife and I have seen him a few times, she's gotten to dance onstage, and my son vomited in his house/recording studio when we were touring during his 40th birthday celebration. Love me some Prince!
