Where were you when....

Today is quickly turning into one of those "I remember where I was when _________ happened" kind of days. What are the historic days that you remember and what were you doing?

Mine:

- Reagan getting shot - I think I was in first grade, got home from school and went to a friends house and I remember his mom yelling at us to be quiet because the president had been shot. We watched for about 10 minutes then went and play with his awesomely huge collection of Star Wars toys.

- Magic has HIV - Had been home after school without the TV or anything on. Got to basketball practice and my teammates told me and I thought it was a joke.

- OJ Chase - I was at home and was going to watch the NBA finals but ended up watching that all night.

- Princess Di killed - Kind of the same at the OJ thing.

- OJ verdict - I was in college at the Peay. It seemed like no one went to class and every stayed in their rooms and watched. When they announced the verdict that whole place went crazy with people yelling, honking horns, etc.

- 9/11 - My very first day at a new job. We had just moved there, didn't have cable, or anything. I didn''t know anything at all had happened until I got to school and overheard some teachers repeating the very earliest news of "an airplace crashed in New York or something".

OJ- I was at home and my parents were watching it, I remember by sisters were watching the movie Cliffhanger for some reason.

Princess Di- Was up in Lake Tahoe with my parents and we were walking back from the lake. Our cabin didn't have TV and one of the neighbors told us she died. My mom told my dad right then that we have to get TV ASAP in the cabin.

9/11- I remember watching Sportcenter that morning and they had an announcement to switch over to ABC, watched that and then went to school and all we did was watch the news all day.

That's a good one. I can't believe I forgot that one. We were out on the playground in third or fourth grade and some kids came running out saying the space shuttle had blown up.

Challenger blowing up - was at home watching that for some reason. Would have sworn it was a Saturday but was probably just skipping school...

OJ Chase - sitting in the fraternity house watching it while downing a few. Good times.

9/11 - was actually sitting in my "A" school class for the US Navy. Immediate thought was "damn it....". Funny part about this is my dad called my wife because he couldn't get a hold of me. Asked her if he knew if I was going to be deployed immediately or what. She had no idea what he was talking about. Her dad was currently visiting us and had the tv on a NASCAR race and apparently they never said anything about it during the telecast.

My list goes back a little farther than yours but here it is:
Moon landing: We were gathered at my grandparents house. My grandfather worked at Cape Canaveral on the launch pad and was involved in all of the "race to space" launches and had patches for all of them.

Nixon resignation: we watched from our house in Tampa. It was one of those things that I didn't want to watch but my parents did and back then families only had 1 tv.

Iran hostages: I was living in Germany and my Dad got called into work. He worked in military intelligence and any time he got called in some shit was going down.

Challenger explosion: I was off work and eating breakfast and watching tv.

OJ chase: I was at work tending bar and watching.

Princess Di: I was at work tending bar and watching.

9/11: I was off work and got a call from my father in law telling me a plane just hit the WTC. I tuned to CNN and watched as the rest of that day unfolded.

OJ's bronco chase - At a friend's house, his whole family and I glued to the TV.

9/11 - It was on a Tuesday, I was in college, and the crappy thing was it was my one busy day as i tried to keep the other 4 days light, so I basically had classes from 8am until 9pm for the most part, and none of my professors cancelled so I got to watch very little coverage the day of. I didn't find out until I got into class as I was probably just listening to CDs on my way to class, no TV or anything while getting ready for class.

Princess Di - Really?

I remember watching the twin towers fall in my senior art class. I said "holy shit" and my teacher got mad at me, then I pointed to the tv and he just said "oh....". We had a soccer match that afternoon and every person on our team wore American Flag headbands.

Other than 9/11 I don't really remember any of the other events, except for sitting on the couch watching coverage of the Princess Dianna crash.

I don't think I could guess within 5 years of when this happened, and don't even remember seeing any coverage of it, much less where I was. I have no clue what I was doing during this timeframe.

I do remember that my Mom taped the funeral on the goold old VCR though LOL.

9/11- I was in a transmission switch yard of a Power Plant working when 9/11 happened. we stopped to listen and watch on a portable TV we had there. Soon to find out that all Critical areas (including the one I was in) were to be locked down and guarded heavily. I was seriously worried when my stupid ass boss told us to lock the gate and keep working..........lol I was like wtf man?
I vividly remember watching the skies go from a lot of airplanes traveling overhead to nothing at all within hours. It was a scary day.

Those pics are looooong gone. I had long hair that was dyed bleach blonde with huge sideburns and a monstrous goatee. At the time with that headband I looked like I belonged on Duck Dynasty

Ahhh, Oklahoma City bombing. I happened to stay home from school that day, don't remember what grade. Somehow came across it on the news and watched the entire thing all day long.
