NCAA will not renew EA Sports contract

The NCAA has made the decision not to enter a new contract for the license of its name and logo for the EA Sports NCAA Football video game. The current contract expires in June 2014, but our timing is based on the need to provide EA notice for future planning. As a result, the NCAA Football 2014 video game will be the last to include the NCAA’s name and logo. We are confident in our legal position regarding the use of our trademarks in video games. But given the current business climate and costs of litigation, we determined participating in this game is not in the best interests of the NCAA.

The NCAA has never licensed the use of current student-athlete names, images or likenesses to EA. The NCAA has no involvement in licenses between EA and former student-athletes. Member colleges and universities license their own trademarks and other intellectual property for the video game. They will have to independently decide whether to continue those business arrangements in the future.

I wonder if we'll get any game at all or if they'll shut it down.

we could get Bill Walsh football style where they had alternative names for schools. (ie Pullman was Washington St, etc)

I think the game is gonna get cancelled.

Which means does 2K pick up and try to make another game ?

It will be interesting to see how this all works out.

My best guess... multiple seasons of NCAA 14 as long as they keep the server up. Many of the same core of guys will stick around and continue to take advantage of all of the extra awesomeness that the NDL has to offer.. COD, FIFA, NBA 2k, OOTP, etc.

How can you say 2K is garbage?
Have you played NBA2K?

What about when NFL2K was out?

I don't think anyone will get the license. The NCAA is already citing the "cost of litigation," which could come up with any game company.

However, each school can independently license its logo/names/trademarks. Therefore, there may be a "College Football 15," which leaves out schools that do not agree to terms. Either way, this sucks. Thanks, Ed O'Bannon & Co.

My guess is that the NDL becomes about much more than NCAA football and sticks around just fine.

These 2 seasons will go up quick, then the NDL as we know it may look completley different not too long from now.

So since there is no more NCAA in the future, can we add the Conference USA teams back to the draft list for these two seasons?

Only hope might be if ESPN comes into save it, "ESPN College Football 2015, from EA sports"

If you guys can hold off Mike for 2 more seasons/cups, I can retire as the most decorated NDLer of all time. It certainly won't be me stopping him this year.

Yes I have played NBA 2K, it has gotten worse every year since 2010. Which was the last year of NBA Live(Only played this for Team play 5 on 5). 2k version is horride.

2K football was even worse, Took it back the same day it came out.

I think reign said it best, Looks like we play NCAA 14 till we can't no more, And then who know's we might be just playing COD,OOTP and other stuff on here afterwards. Which is cool by me.
