Let's talk Spread Option

I'm bored, I'm sure this thread will get silly pretty quickly but...I'm bored lol.

So I have Colorado St this season, woe is me. My backup QB is only 1 point lower overall than my starter and has 82 speed. I played Nolie in my Cup game last night, Nole said he made nice plays, but didn't seem like he had big time speed. I think Nolie only said that because my QB is white, but I digress.

I've only played the game 3 times, but I'm wondering what the prevailing thoughts are on the spread option offense? I know at first, lots of guys were saying it's hard to stop or whatever, but just curious if anything changed with practice, moving to Heisman, or using the strats a little.

I'm hoping to employ some of it this season, but I would like to keep some solid coach reports. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary running it on Nole. My QB ran it pretty well, but he kept my overall run game in check, completely shutting down my RB, so it balanced out.

EMU is implementing the Spread Eagle offense.

Lots of option with a nice mix of passing.(Oregon PB)

We will have to score 60 a game to have any shot of winning.

I find against a QB with some acceleration, it is very hard to defend with a shitty D. Speed isn't so much what you should be looking at but more acceleration on those keepers and going around that crashing DE.

I haven't found anything questionable about it and worth docking anyone for shady tactics.

Have fun!

you can have your defense spy the qb if needed

I'm switching to a pistol offense with Air Force and starting my third string QB because he is not 5'9" and 1 pt lower than my starter and backup. Also the 86 speed is a bonus.

I think we play each other this season, spread offenses all over the place!!!

EA gets it right again.

What we would guess, about 75-80% of college football is a variation of a spread offense now a days?

You dont see many pro style looks any longer which I miss.

The last game too, it's going to be a very interesting game. Maybe we can set the record with points and total yards lol

I was Washington and played a lobby game against Texas A&M and spied his QB and even had my guys commit to the QB and his first two runs were 86 and 78 yard TD runs with Manziel. So really dont think it matters.

I'm obviously running a spread option attack (have for 2yrs ... with some flex)...

I think you're going to see 2 types of people running... those that run it because it's very good, but they won't take the time to actually figure it out beyond running the read option out of different formation. Then, you're going to find guys that learn to run the read, veer, midline, and work in speed, shovel and WR options. Player type 1 is fairly easy to shut down. Player type 2 is going to be a monster to stop.

I've been running a spread option based offense for a lot of years, and this is the 1st year that they have actually gave us some legit constraint plays to compliment the core option plays. Now, when you run those auto motion triple options, the user defender can't just come blasting in to shut it down.. because they've added plays that could really torch people who over commit.

If anyone has any questions, or would like to learn more about what plays are best to run when the defense is doing certain things, let me know. I'd be happy to help any fellow NDL members!

Much like Corey's Spread Eagle offense at EMU I'm running the Gyno Spread at SMU. We may combine for 1000k yards in our week 3 game.

The only thing Im doing a little different this year than in years past is that im will trow in some PA from the gun. It finally doesnt see mto overdone this year and if used appropraitely shouldnt get you docked on Coaches reports. Im having fun running this offense this year even though i have the bastard ex-Texas QB that started the decline of Longhorn football. Hes got good ACC (88) but i think only a 78 speed. So he gets to the corner and looks for blocks cause hes not going to outrun any one.

I haven't seen an avatar or sig in years. Boards are so much easier to read without em.

Whole lotta sissy ball being talked about here.

LSU will be playing MAN BALL. Hill, Blue, Coleman and Hilliard running straight down the middle of your defense. 6 min drives being capped with touchdowns all day, errrday ya heard.
