Season 28 Status

12/4 - Updated

I wanted to update this thread and unfortunately, things have not got any better.

All of the games are open and have been for 6 days now.

AAC - 4 teams with 6 games or less played.
ACC - 7 teams with 6 games or less played.
Big12 - 6 teams with 6 games or less played.
Big10 - 7 teams with 6 games or less played.
Indy's - 4 teams with 6 games or less played.
PAC12 - 7 teams with 6 games or less played.
SEC - 1 team with 6 games or less played.

We still have 9 teams that have 3 or less games played.
And only 1 of these owners has posted in the Extended Absence thread that he would be away.

WTF is going on?

I am done sugar coating things.

All you did was completely waste your opponents time.
Not to mention, buckeye posted that to be IN this season, you needed to remain active.

So what is up fellas?
Some of you, I see you posting in other threads, yet you cannot take the time to post to your opponents in the scheduling threads or in the Extended Absence thread.

If it was up to me, I would be "trimming the fat" in this league.
When all it takes is a minute or two of your time to post to your opponent and communicate to them what you have going on.

Hey!!! I'm on the list!!! Wooooooooo!!!

But seriously, I can't support this thread enough.. It is so inconsiderate to the guys who are putting in the effort to keep this thing going. If you're out, I CHALLENGE YOU to post in THIS thread that you are not committed anymore. Be men, and speak up if you are going to sim the rest of the season.

If you're IN, then commit to responding to the game schedule threads and quit wasting our time. It's rude! Video game or not, it's people's time away from their work/family/friends.. whatever.

Man up and play your games, or GTFO

This is my point Champ.
If people just take the 2-3 minutes to let their opponents know that they are not around or when they will be or how to get a hold of them, it saves a lot of frustration.

Also, most people have smartphones now. It takes less than a minute to check forums or AIM.

I agree too.. specially to the disrespectful part. It is very disrespectful to your opponent to not communicate what is up. It gives the impression that 1. You dont care.. and 2. that you are somehow special and your time is more meaningful than someone elses time. Which it is not.

Remember we all have our own commitments, and own life away from a video game. But we make a commitment to this league when we say IN and sign that team contract. We commit that we will do our best to make an honest effort to schedule and work with our opponents to schedule and play our games amongst other things around the league..

We are all taking time out of our lives to accommodate each other, remember scheduling games is a compromise. You are not the only person with things to do. So please put forth the effort, communicate, compromise and remember you are not the center of the universe and the planets don't revolve around you and your life alone. Because we are all trying to carve out about 1.5 hours of our time for each other to honor our commitment to the league.

Please dont be this guy.

This is key, I've been busy with Union stuff at work, and election for a levy, and a birthday for a 3yr old. But I will get my games in that's for sure.

I wanted to post as I have heard a few different people complaining that some people seem to have time to post in different threads, but they don't have time to get games in.

People need to understand that just because people have time to post in threads does not mean they have time to get games in.
They are 2 very separate, very different requirements.

Some people, like myself, have the ability to get online while at work throughout the day.
So this affords me the ability to post in message boards throughout the day.

This is much different than trying to get a game in where after getting home, having things to do around the house, having a 6 month old child that I want to spend time with, having a wife to spend time with and then the other things that come along with life.
And I am not one of the many parents we have in the NDL that have pre-teens or teenagers that are into sports. So that takes up many, many more hours than for someone like me.

So I want people to understand, posting on message boards does NOT equal being able to get games played. Very, very different!

With all of that said, if you have time to post in threads, at least reach out to your opponents in the Scheduling threads and/or send them a PM explaining what is going on.

I think this was the big issue. One complaint was that someone has time to post multiple times in OOTP threads but not in their scheduling thread.

If everyone worries about themselves, things will work out how they are going to work out.

Publicly calling guys out rarely works

just my .02

How will it work out, AJ? Guys just keep wasting their time, trying to schedule games on the boards, and eventually they just get a simmed win? Is that how it will possibly "work out"? Who's been publicly called out? Nick? If he's posting in the OOTP portion of the boards and not bothering to try to schedule the football games he signed up for, then he deserves to be called out, don't you think?

Its one guys on everyone's schedule.

There is a system in place. It has happened every season since Season 1. Some guys don't play their games. Is stressing about it going to change it? I'm not saying its right.

And yes, that is how it will be worked out, sim wins.

I agree if you signed up for the season you should be doing what you've always done. IE - scheduling threads, coaches reports, recaps, etc etc etc.

In the end are you really just dying to play a guy who clearly , for whatever reason, doesn't want to play? Not much good will end up coming from that.

It sucks that guys are that way. In a perfect world it wouldn't be so. All I can say is do your part and move on....

and for the record, I didn't say he(or whomever) shouldn't be called out....I simply said it rarely works

Calling a guy out probably make him less likely to play you I would think.

In an argument between transparency (saying it how it is) and apathy (let's just do nothing but hope it gets better), I'll take transparency all day...

And Shel, I have found that calling people out on these boards, AIM, etc. DOES indeed help to get games in. I have played people in almost every season where that guy only plays like 2 games - meaning he only took the time to play 2 or 3 games and mine was one of them.

I wish it were otherwise...
