Anyone tried Sling TV yet?

Seems like a pretty good deal for live TV.

I was thinking about signing up for 3 months and you get $50 off a Fire TV.
I like the FireTV idea cause it is like an apple tv, but very easy to install XBMC (Kodi) on it.
You don't have to jailbreak it or anything like that.




The biggest issue I see with SlingTV is:
Can I watch Sling TV on more than one TV (or other device) at the same time?
No. Unless you create more than one account, you cannot watch Sling TV on more than one device -- TV or mobile -- at the same time. The service is restricted to one stream at a time.


Curious if anyone has used Sling TV or Fire TV and your thoughts?

Xbox 1 has it as well but haven't researched it much as I am back to cable until I get a house.

It sucks. I have Roku and had it on there. You can only watch it on 1 device cant watch in seperate rooms. Go to USTV now for way better service and more for your money.

With these NBA playoffs, i'm learning how much I missed my DVR and how much time I can save starting the 7pm games at 8:30 ish and finishing on time.

Yea they give you this crazy deal as they are contracted with UVerse

Made sense to as it was the same as I was paying for Internet only back at the house. I will say yes dvr has been great to have back. Also the on demand feature is awesome.

I haven't gotten around to messing with it on DirecTV yet. Basically, just GoT and NBA Playoffs for me lately since I finished Better Call Saul.

I have a million Shark Tanks and something called Before the Tank recorded, just never watched any yet.

Mostly movies I've never seen as well as stuff for Cal from all the kids channels.

I really wanted to get rid of UVerse and try Sling TV, however, I read several comments about the constant buffering of the streams. If I were confident that it would work, I would go to that plan in a second.

Nice thing about SlingTV is there are no contracts. You can quit at any time.

So reading up on this since we are getting a house and looking for ways to save a little money...

Sling TV now offers Sling Orange, which is 1 feed at a time for these channels
and Sling Blue, which is 3 feeds at a time for these channels.
If you add HBO, it offers 3 feeds at any time.
But for $40 per month, it seems to be a legit option.
And they offer the Viacom channels that Playstation Vue has removed.

I pay $119 per month through Comcast for 220 channels and 100 Mbps.
The internet would be $40 to $50 by itself for probably around 50 Mbps, which is still plenty fast enough. So then you add in one of these services at say $45.
I would be up to $95 to $100 per month anyways, so is it really worth it to do that or just continue paying for cable and have the convenience of what I have now?

That price difference probably isn't worth it.

I've been exploring those options that come in around $100 because my monthly is $181... Yuck.

My second year the Comcast price will go up, but they tell you to call and they will see what deal they can give you at that time.
And I have to keep a service with them for 2 years, but not a cable service.
And where I live, in the sticks, getting 100 Mbps is phenomenal.
The only other service around here can offer me 3 Mbps right now.
So Comcast it is for sure for internet service.
