Flashback to 2005 (I think). The PS2 is out and it’s time for the NDL to move to a next gen system. Given what you know now, would you rather the NDL have……..
a) Gone to the PS3
b) Gone to the 360

The yearly fee for the 360's online service is a sticking point for me.

Dear critical fuckfaces,
The reason that I asked the question is because I wanted to gauge how happy people were with their PS3s. I personally think Sony has totally fucked up their once console monopoly. I see nothing, outside of the BR player, that Sony has done to beat Microsoft. If anything, they are getting flat out owned by the 360.
I also asked because it is very possible that we are going to have to go thru this shit again in a few years. I think it’s a joke that we aren’t anywhere near maximizing the PS3 but here you go……..

He makes a very good point.
Sony is terrible.
The cost of playing on X box is dumb Its 55 dollars for a year.
For a fucking year.
lol
Blue ray is the only thing they have. The system I think is better than the 360, but everything else is 10000x worse.

BS..the question wasn't how happy are you with the PS3...it was obvious that you asked the question because you prefer the xbox to ps and in your opinion we screwed up by going with the ps3 when we made the leap from ps2.
We get it. You think the PS3 is garbage. Every week you find an article bashing the PS3 and link to it. I think we get the point. This is just another way of beating a dead horse.
And Hoos jr...55 bucks is 55 bucks. 4 years since the switch and that would be another $220 bucks. I would rather spend that money on games or hookers or blow or all of the above.
Bottom line if we had gone to the xbox, the league would have been on life support. And eventually it would have gone the way of the 1000's of other leagues out there.

Wow, you sure are a smart dude. Figured that out all by yourself? Genius.
The poll had zero bias in it. I just wanted to see what others felt about the different consoles. Esp considering we may face the same decisions down the stretch. I do not hate the PS3. I do hate that Sony is shitting the bed with this thing. How many good games have there been? How many terrible lobby systems have we had to fight with to even get together for games? How many total disaster launches have there been because devs would rather beta test their games on the 360 instead of the PS3? Did they really waste 4 years developing Home?
I would rather be on the PS3 but I seriously wish it would improve. I rarely ever play my 360. I just don’t think Sony gets it.
As for the news that I post, I don’t search out those articles. They come to my Email as a google alert. Some days they are full of PS3 bashing and I only post 1 or 2 articles because they are redundant. Like it or not, the PS3 is struggling and that makes the news.

Does Hoos even own a XBOX? To be honest I didn't see any bias in it. Outside of here everyone claims how much they love the other systems compared to the PS3 so I think it was legit even though a pretty obvious answer

Yes, I have a 360. I think the last time that I even turned it on was for the COD5 beta.

No buyers remorse here.
I think the transition was the right one. You can debate endlessly on the points of difference between the two lead consoles, but at the end of the day both are good for their own reasons.
This league isn't predicated on gaming 24 hours a day and guys consumed with squeezing as many seasons as possible into one year. The guys in this league play these games b/c its a fun hobby. It doesn't run their lives and thats evident with guys balancing out their schedules with family, work, and friends.
The XBOX 360 is the better 'pure gaming' console. Smooth interface, great networks, easy to catch up with your friends, etc. But with that, the 360 sits in households as only that...A gaming console. Sure you can go on to say they have Netflix, DVD player, and a internet browser to name a few. But it also has a 30% failure rate and really over extends itself whenever you try to do more than just 'game' with it.
The Ps3 serves a higher calling. Definitely not pigeon holed as a 'gaming console', this console serves as an entertainment system. Yes, I know our league is about gaming, but thats not what runs the lives of the people who participate. For those who have wives and families, you justified the investment as a centerpiece of your entertainment. Blu Ray player is the best on the market and has been since it launched in 2006. The Hard drive can serve as your external hard drive for your computer. The internet browser is smooth enough to do work on. The list goes on. The Ps3 was an 'investment' not an impulse buy.
Sure the Ps3 has stumbled out the gate and I'm sure most of us who just like to forget NCAA 2008. But going forward, where we are now, we're in the spot that we should be. The Ps3 has caught up to the XBOX on the frame rate issue and the graphics are basically the same. Online is still free! And this console will still be relevant for a few more years while the XBOX 360 pretty has limited room to grow.
The transition to Ps3 was a long term decision. Simply put, going to the 360 it would have been just a short term fix. This league is more than that.

VT had some good points...I have both (and a Wii as well)...I think the universal lobby, and everybody having a mic on the 360 would help in a league, or other games like COD...but that would be the only advantage to being on the 360 as far as the NDL goes.
As for games, it is pretty much a wash, imo, because the good titles come out on both, with the exception of Drake's, Resistance, MLB08, and LBP (PS3)and Gears of War 2 (360).
the cost of xbl is coming down, though, a 13 month sub is $30 on Amazon.
