Season Outlook:
Alabama were at least a couple of impact players short last season to make a deep run. So, Bill Quinn was acquired to help the pitching staff and along with Eric Howard, they could be a top pitching duo in the league this year. The key will be rest and health for the top two pitcher.s They are followed by three hard throwing righties. Billy Jones and Phil Murray anchor the bullpen. Alabama will probably need to try and add a piece in the bullpen but most likely a young arm will need to step up and throw well. That could be RPs Jack Meyer and/or Jon Salinas.

Offensively, the Bears will look different than last season. 1b/3b Jason Miles is a free agent and has yet to sign. He was a great hitter but lacked power. He didn't have a strong enough arm to play an effective third base and he didn't have the power to play as a traditional first baseman. Essentially Ben Henderson will step in for Miles in the lineup and hopefully produce at a higher level, especially vs. lefties. Armando Luna, Victor Perez, and Ben Henderson will anchor the offense. The overall success will be a product of how well the supporting cast can contribute. Danny Minor, Paul Adams, and Ralph Wise will need to be more consistent this season for the Bears to reach the playoffs and beyond. Catcher Dan Miller could surprise with a break out season.

The defense should also be much improved from last year's 14th ranked defense. Danny Minor has plus plus range. Ben Henderson will go from 2b to left field. Right field remains a mystery. Both Luna and Perez will play RF during the year, as well as Jon Craft. The infield defense is much improved with the addition of Dave Barnes at third base. If he can't hold up offensively, then Adam Ruiz will take over at third.

Alabama is around a 95 win team. A trip to the NLCS and a ticket to the World Series isn't out of reach for this team. What will the OOTP gods decide?
