Who in the hell is voting for Air Force? We are 2-5 with a 5 game losing streak! Is it the MWC coaches trying to get us ranked so when they beat me they earn extra points for beating a ranked team?

I don't get it either. There are at least 8 teams that received votes that had losing records through week 6.

The funny thing is I think someone is lazy and voted in alphabetical order in some shape or form because all of the 8 teams start with the letter A, B, C, or D. I think someone just wants their points for next season and doesn't really care about the integrity of the polls or maybe the league.

well to be fair, the top 25 only matters for the BCS lol. if u've lost and you're a mid major, you shouldn't even care about the top 25. hell I never want to be a top 25, i dont wanna give people points when I lose lol.

ooh, very interesting. Course, this could bring on an internal investigation. This could be BIGmike's last harrah as Commissioner, to bring down the idiot or idiots that would do such a thing! This could affect his enduring legacy within the walls of the NDL! :D

Actually I think it matters on other levels than just the BCS.

You pick Team A that is 0-5 and rank them 20th, they get 6 points in terms of voting. Those 6 points could have gone to Team B that derserves to be ranked. If Team B ended up being ranked and then lost to Team C, Team C would get the bonus points. By voting the 0-5 team in, Team C wouldn't have gotten the points for beating a top 25 team and those points keep the owner from keeping their team next season or getting a better draft spot. So to that coach, it matters.

Of crouse, this is all hypothetical. I'm just asking to take the polls with some seriousness.

ahh you silly fools.

the simple math shows you that this shit is a lot harder to do then u think

1st place 25 pts, 2nd 24 etc etc.

so when 2-5 people (out of 80 voters) put Team B in 20th spot..they get what? lets say 5 teams all vote Team B 21st cause they want to get freebie points. 5 times 5 (5th last spot) = 25 points.

1 first place vote is worth 25 points.

so i dont see the issue. with so many votes, its hard for this to happen.

OOOOOOOHHHHHHHH (As I bang my head on the desk)

So if 5 people give them 5 points each, for a total of 25 points, and the 26th ranked team missed being ranked by 5 points and could have received the votes for the team that shouldn't have been voted for at all on those 5 people's ballots, that doesn't matter.

You are reading this the wrong way. As your math shows us, it is hard to get the "freebie" points that you are talking about. I'm not even sure where the freebie points come in to my point unless you are refering to the post that Ank made. I am talking about your statement of how it only matters for the BCS when I am trying to show that it matters in other ways.

On a lighter note, maybe since you are the one that is arguing the most about this, means that you are the guilty one.

I submit that it was Nick, with a computer mouse, in the NDL voting room.

(Making a note that the last two sentences were a joke.)

The entire point I am trying to make, as an admin, is be serious about this and not treat it as a joke. Take 5 min to vote instead of 1.

The only poll results I can view on an individual basis is the final poll.

what if you vote team A who is 0-5 #2 in the polls? it doesn't show up as a #1 vote on the poll, and they would get 24 points. get enough of those and voila, rankings for teams that probably shouldn't be ranked equaling point opportunities in future games.

wonder if this happens in real life? do they make every poll public? not that they earn coaching points, but i'll bet each conference holds their teams in higher regards. beating your rival ranked #13 is better than beating them ranked at #21.

Well all to hell. That's the kind of power that an Admin NEEDS! Some changes need to occur around here dammit. I wanna find out who votes for me, so I can send them a nice card or some flowers! :D

The only poll that is made public is the final poll, as it is done here. The only other way that a particular coach's vote is made public is if he publicly discusses it or something. I think it was a year that Tressel said something about where he voted OSU and Texas when they were to play each other and it was found that he was wrong and the press came out about it. I think he said he voted Texas #1 and OSU #2 when in fact he voted OSU #1. I think he said that he gave to someone someone in the department and miscommunication happened. I think the voting was looked into for integrity of the poll or something.

anyone can vote for anyone.

I did a lil system where i incorperated Winning %, Strength of Schedule and Strength of Victory, and to tell you the truth....the top 25 isn't "correct" anyways.

its all up to you. I vote 1 loss mid majors with the 18-25 picks usually as they need some love too.
