I got an awesome surround sound system for the Canes Cave for $99 last year that was orginally $350.

Looking for a TV for the bedroom this year most likely and the wife wants those new age washer and dryers.

What are you guys looking for this year?

My wife got new a frontloading washer/dryer this summer, she loves those things more then me. Said you can wash twice as much and the dryer actually finishes befoe the washer, since the front loaders spin so hard, the clothes are about dry when they come out. With 3 kids and all the practices every night, if she doesnt do 2 or 3 loads a day, its taking over the house. So definitly a good purchase for us.

Yea, she looks at those things all googly eyed like we do about sports stuff and electronics. I dont get it.

She tried to break down the savings in electricity and what it does different than ours and all that crap.

Which brand did you end up getting and whats the best place to buy them?
Never thought Id see the day where the wife would ask for a washer and dryer for a Christmas present but Im not complaining because she will be doing all the laundry.

Check out consumer reports and cnet. I got a Kenmore a few years ago for both, and they work great.

Just got a new set a couple months ago from Lowes. Great deal, I found a pretty inexpensive offer online and they beat it by 10% (even thought the online offer was only like $10 less than what Lowes had :D ). Plus at the time they were running a special for Energy Star appliances for another 10% off. Then they deliver/haul away for free. All said and done I paid under $1000 for the set

We also got ours from Lowes, Maytag, couldnt be happier, I Know that almost everything we read rated the Electrolux the best but they were about 300.00 more apeice then the Maytag's. The stand/drawer combination that they set on will go about another 200 or 300 apeice. Without them they set pretty low, but if you want to save the 500 or 600 bones you dont have to have them. Btw, do we need to trade in our man card for discussing washer/dryers on this forum :)

Corey,

I sent the ratings to your hotmail address. Hopefully that is still valid.

Hmmm, I never had hotmail.

Maybe you sent them to Shel.

EDIT: I just checked my mail and maybe you meant Yahoo because I got it.

You are the man, thanks for doing that.

I have them stacked, so I didnt buy the "drawers" that iownu mentioned. if you look at em next to others, the tray that you put the detergent into kinda feels cheap, but I havent had any problems and theyve been great

My wife wants the front load washer and dryer too. Good thing the government is buying them for her, thanks to the first time homebuyers credit. Now I just have to get the check which will probably take forever because it is the government. At least I will get a new TV out of the deal.
