FIFA 12 League Sign-ups

Post by jsence2 »

I'm going to run a FIFA 12 league again this year. If we can get enough interest and get some active guys, we might be able to run a full 20-team league, 38 matches per team (home and home) with a "Cup" style tournament on the side. I'm thinking we will start with 4-5 star teams, just to keep guys interested (if we go to lower teams some newbies may struggle) especially since it will keep us using teams where people know guys. My only rule is that if you ARE an established good FIFA player, please refrain from taking Barcelona, Real Madrid, or Manchester City as those teams are loaded beyond belief. Leave those for the guys who will need the extra help.

Go ahead and sign up and post if you'd be interested, and what three teams you would like to use. If you have a "favorite" team that you support (Peay w Arsenal, Shel w Tottenham, etc) then I'll try to make sure you get them.

THE DEMO IS RELEASED ON MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 12TH!!!

List of good teams left:

Olympic Lyon
Bayern Munich
Liverpool
Villareal
Paris St Germain
Schalke FC
Olympic Marseille--ON THE DEMO

Confirmed in:

Jason (Manchester United)
Shel (Tottenham, Bayern Munich)
Nick Van Der Sloot (Ajax....or not. )
Reign (Real Madrid)

Doc (West Ham United)
Corey (Chelsea)
Brett (Liverpool)
Plasma (Barcelona....cuz he wants Dani Alves)

Riccio (Man chitty)
Uuaww (PSG, Lyon)
Tball--FC Koln

krgkmg (Borussia Dortmund)
Taruncheel (Inter Milan)
Brwnbr (Santos)
Ajalves (FC Porto)

BigMike (Napoli)

I'll go for it. Should be able to play a ton and get really accustomed to it very fast. I'll head over and preorder it this weekend.

1.) Real Madrid - Would definitely prefer them over all other teams
2.) Chelsea - Good team for crappy player (edited out a team that lost a key player, ouch)

No idea what that means, but it sounds really good.

You can add a 3rd team for me, just in case I end up getting decent at the game and can play with a lesser team... FC Porto. For no other reason than I can run around with Forwards named Kleber and Hulk.

Way to break your rule right away. There is no way that the self described "best FIFA Player" should be allowed to take the odds on favorite to win the Premier League and the 3rd best odds in the Champions League. This is a good time to show character, follow the rule you created, and pick a 4 star rated team. Otherwise, what is the point of trying to be competitive when you are asking your best competition to take less talented teams so you can stack the deck with Man U. And dont even try to downplay the talent at Man U, they didnt get to the Champions Cup final on accident.

Man City is rated: 83, 84, 80
Man U is rated: 84, 81, 83

With that being said, I will take Santos.

Man U is rated: 84, 81, 83

With that being said, I will take Santos.

First of all, those are last year's ratings....ManCity will be rated higher than ManU due to their unbelievable depth. Secondly, I didn't ask other guys to take lesser teams--I said don't take THOSE THREE teams. The other teams will be pretty similar near the top (ManU, Liverpool, Chelsea, Inter, AC Milan, Arsenal, Lyon, Porto, BD, Bayern, etc). Third, as anybody who plays NCAA should know, on field success doesn't equal video game success. There's a reason few guys use ManU online right now, despite them being one of the top four rated teams in the game--they don't lend themselves well to many people's gameplay.

There will be two teirs to this game:

Man City, Barcelona, Real Madrid....and everyone else. Let's put it this way--when a team can bring guys like Aguero/Tevez, Cesc Fabregas, and Kaka off the bench, then the team is a class above.

If you take away the top five players on ManU, you lose Rooney/Young/Nani/Evra/Vidic. That leaves you with Rio (85), and nobody else over 84, some starters as low as 80/78 (Anderson/Cleverley, who I'd use in midfield over guys like Fletcher 83).

Take away the top five players on Barca (Messi, Iniesta, Villa, Xavi, and Puyol)...and you still have an 87 rated Cesc, 87 rated Alves, 87 rated Pique, 85 rated Busquets, 85 rated Valdes, etc.

Top five on Madrid (Ronaldo, Kaka, Casillas, Higuain, and Ramos) and you still have guys like Ozil (86), Alonso (86), Pepe (85), Benzema (84), Di Maria (84), and the new kids.

Top five on City (Tevez, Aguero, Silva, Nasri, and Yaya Toure) and you have Dzeko 85, Hart 86, Kompany 85, etc.

If you want Santos then take Santos. I never said I would for sure take ManU, hence why I put Milan there too. I haven't played the game yet....if Anderson/Cleverley/Smalling/DeGea are rated as low as I expect them to be, then I'll have a team that is outmatched in areas.

P.S. I never annointed myself the "best FIFA player" in the league....others did that, as did my own record/international ranking. Now, back to the FUN! :D
