1000 game club
One of my favorite things to do is look thru my team history... for me its a bit annoying cause the first few years of the Spitters are listed as Alabama years and the history of my team includes the expansion team I took over when I came back. With that said, the seasons can go by quick and we can always fall in love with our next hot prospect but its interesting to look back at who the 'faces of your franchise' really were.
I figured i'd start this thread with a post of players who played 1000 games in my organization and a few words about them and then each of you could post your own. I really have no idea how many each team will have, i'm assuming some will have a bunch and some might not have any. For the sake of this thread, lets keep it to positional players and we can add a thread down the road with pitchers. To find your guys to to your team history/history index/Leaders:batters
SPITTERS POSITIONAL PLAYERS WITH 1000 GAMES PLAYED
1. Kyle Bryant, SS -- 1636 games played. Bryant took over for Booger after his horrendous injury and downfall. The Spitters were very fortunate to bounce back with a player like Bryant. He's been a solid offensive player with 4 silver slugger awards, 1 gold glove and a world series ring.
2. Robby Graham, RF -- 1234 games played. He never had a nickname formally but I always called him the 'Rock'. He had 100 runs scored in each of his 8 seasons in Baby Blue and Black.
3. Lowell Decoligney, 1b -- 1165 games played. The Spitters version of John Olerud. He played his entire career for one franchise, never signing with anyone else after his run in New England. Career .318 hitter, won 2 batting titles.
almost, but not quite: Rick Meyer (918), Khoi Kan (903), Nick Cross (896), Juan Torres (893 - AL), Pablo Bojorquez (859 - AL) Fred Thomas (854), Jeff Henry (815), Brian Weddington (814), Eddie Griffin (788)

Re: 1000 game club
Look at this shit.
Formatting and everything.
The Spitters are back bitches!!!
Love it Dave.
(I'll look later as I'm not at the game but pretty confident the Miami/Dallas/Boston franchises never had a 1000 gamer)

Re: 1000 game club
I was surprised how many I have:
Bob Kelley- 1805
Beau Stuart- 1567
Dwight Moody- 1391
Javier Urgilez- 1319
Felix Valentin- 1236
Lance Warren- 1201
Ryan Parker- 1160
In terms of years though, I have 7 pitchers with 10+ years of service. 6 starters and the All-time Crab leader, Ken Owens who has just sat in middle relief for 14 years... should be 15 this season.

Hit leader for the MTL organization and my favorite player of all time, its a shame he retired early. Always put he ball in play and made things happen!

Re: 1000 game club
Since I do not care for the Cleveland part of the franchise before me I have had 1
C Miguel Acosta- 1486 games. My favorite OOTP'er I have had and one of the best players in the league for most of the 2040s. Greeks home run leader at 325 and war at 54.3. Still has a shot at the HOF with a few more productive years.

Re: 1000 game club
There's only been two in the Cubs history:
#2 Brandon Haydock - 1579
#6 Preston Clark - 1057
I trade players away pretty regularly though so this didn't really surprise me at all. What did surprise me is that there are only 6 players in the history of Cookeville/Chicago/? (don't know if there were other cities) to play more than 1000 games. Obviously Big Cheese led the group, with 2372.

Don't have the game in front of me but I would guess Wayne Washington is top 3 all time in Omaha / Souix City
Lawrence Frank's probably comes up short of the 1000 game mark

Wayne Washington: 1744
Saunders 994 just missed it and then Juan Gonzalez at 936.

Re: 1000 game club
Some insight on the history of the team for the current owner...
I really had a thing for 2B/SS/3B. I always felt that those positions had to be strong offensively and defensively. Having a high GBF% was always important for my pitching staff and with reliable defenders here, it made everything click. This was a focus from my first season forward. One of the first moves I made was snagging Mike Blanton, a .300 hitter with great defense out of Rule 5 from a stacked PO team. I quickly followed that up by drafting Alfredo Medina and Manual Germain, to lockup the other 2 spots. Next was the Dr. Evil acquisition, followed by the big deal to bring in Raul Reyes. Looking through this list loaded with quality IF guys and it's hard to believe that the likes of Graham Ware and Kevin Highbarger could have been on it. Not to mention some mainstays for other organizations like Emilio Valezquez and Beau Stuart were here.
Rank Player G
1. RF - Alfredo Hernández - 2284 - Legend.
2. 3B - Arthur Mason - 1568 - Dr. Evil, acquired in my first major lop-sided trade where I dumped a lot of "good" players for "great" prospects.
3. C - Jaime Zavala - 1315 - Mainstay at C from '33-'41. Won 3 titles. Was never considered elite, but was consistent offensively and defensively.
4. 2B - Justin Hitchcock - 1287 - He was supposed to takeover for Dr. Evil, but Mason kept producing, so Hitchcock carved out a long-term home at 2B.
5. SS - Michael Fisher - 1264 - Another option to be a stud a 3B, but due to the signing of Pace after Mason, he found his home at SS.
6. 3B - Cale Ackerman - 1162 - Very similar to Zavala in that he's never considered elite, but has been very good for a long-time.
7. 3B - Alex Pace - 1136 - Brought over as the SS to play beside Mason, he eventually took over 3B from Dr. Evil, allowing Fisher to hand SS duties.
8. 1B - Javier Rodríguez - 1112 - Rodriguez and Zavala hit back to back for 6-7 seasons. Again, not spectacular, just consistent.
9. C - Jason Anderson - 1006 - He's a cornerstone of the current team. The first C that really developed into what I thought he would for the organization.
10. OF - Emílio González - 996 - "Ironfist" looked like he was going to be a monster when he joined the team, but ended up as an average player throughout his career. His good defense and ability to play all OF positions allowed him to fill-in throughout the years.
