REALLY...."SO-CALLED". I might disagree with guys that it's not intentional, but it's very obvious. This is one that could be "borderline" only because the QB's arm is not wrapped up yet...but he is going to the ground so it's suspect for sure. I think the fact that the CB had a shot at the HB after the pitch leaves this open for running afterward IMO:

NCAA 04...you could pitch the ball while laying on the ground. If it happens once or twice a game, no biggie. But if it's happening all game long..it's a problem. I honestly haven't seen a late pitch on the option in quite some time though.

i think that's because ppl hit it early enough to avoid this confusion.

the one video is a little iffy, but I haven't seen much of that in ncaa 10. Now the ones in 09 where they shot it out of there butts was a little too much, but still that was based on computer because most people are mashing their buttons well before they get wrapped up.

I ran with Georgia Tech's playbook pretty much all season. I guess I will see if I got bad reports with my option. I know the guys I talked to after the game liked how I ran the offense. I will just have to wait to see how the rest did.

While I think it's ridiculous to dock points for this, I don't think the answer is to "ban" every little thing. What might be a better idea is to get guys to list what they find offensive when they sign their contracts. That way the league isn't dictating what everyone should do, but allow the opponent to decide how they will play KNOWING how the other guys feels about it.

Possibly a happy medium for everyone who has their own opinion on issues. Again, communication could be vital here. For example..guys like hart4heisman/rags/VVV and whoever else docks for the option stuff....have you in the past, IM'd or talked to your opponent via headset during the game after you had this happen against you? That way the other guy knows that it pissed you off and to be more mindful of it the second time it might happen? If you have, then kudos and I would assume then docking would be expected because the other guy then knew it was coming.

Also another question: how much do you dock? drop the guy from a 5 to a 4? Or take a more serious approach and drop him to a 2 or 3?

(Good discussion guys, enjoying this...while making mental notes on who prefers what ;) )

i usually don't dock for it once unless it was egregious and went for a TD or a big 3rd down or something.

...mainly my docking is if something i see as taking advantage of the game is used in a key situation

If i late pitch i'll dive or run OB, though, while most turn it up the field

My opponent gets one (1) freebie a game, after that I'm docking them. Simple as that. Same thing goes for people that use the aggressive play calling all game, if I see jump the snap every play you better be ready for it on the coaches report.

I don't see any change or improvements that have been made from last year. QB's still pitch the ball from behind, when their on the ground and when half the team is in front of them. Some may disagree, and say that it's in the game so it should be free use I don't see it that way. If that's the case open up all the cheesing plays and be done with it.

Good day! :D :P
Disagree 100%...this opinion usually comes from someone who either
1. Doesn't use the option
2. Doesn't understand the option
3. Is way too obsessed about what the "other guy" is doing and not trying to enjoy the game.

I have yet to see the "delayed" pitch multiple times in this year game and it is 100% not 'cheese'. Have you never played against someone that actually takes advance of the A.I.? I guess you dock points for everything then...if a guy intercepts the pass after a QB "knock down" animation lob pass, or any of the other multiple things that is out of the users control...

..I'm only docking for guys that break the rules or don't vary their gameplay. That's what the reports are for...to keep guys that actually "cheese" or run the money play accountable.[/quote]

LATE PITCH IS BULLSHIT . PERIOD!!! I WILL DOCK THE FUCK OUT OF ANY BASTARD THAT RUNS IT ON ME! ALL FUCKING 1'S
SO BE FORE WARNED IF YOU PLAY ME. YOU PULL BULLSHIT, YOU GET BULLSHIT, AND I REALLY DON'T GIVE A FLYING FUCK WHAT ANY BASTARD THINKS THAT RUNS BULLSHIT!
I AM SICK AND TIRED, LIKE A LOT OF GUY'S ARE OF PEOPLE WHO BEND THE RULES OR PUT THEIR OWN SPIN ON THE RULES. RULES APPLY TO EVERYONE. BUT SOME FEEL RULES APPLY TO OTHERS NOT THEM. AND TO WHOMEVER PUT IN THEIR POST THAT IF YOU GRADE TO HARSH MAYBE YOU DON'T BELONG IN THE NDL, WELL THIS IS FOR YOU,STR8 FROM THE HEART(GO FUCK YOURSELF)... HITTING A CHEESEDICK IS MY FUNDAMENTAL RIGHT AS A NDL COACH!!! BEEFY

if ur QB is getting pulled down, and has that arm free... i've seen it personally happen in real life so whatever... but thats the line.

i've had options happen on me where the QBs arm like glitched up and threw it behind his back while being thrown to the ground
I agree with you totally. Overall, do you think guys in this league actually try to get that delayed animation late pitch? I honestly don't think I've played anyone who seemed like they were trying to do it. It might have happened once or twice...but I've never seen it actually used like someone was purposefully trying to take advantage of it. Maybe I've just been lucky to have avoided "those" types of players. I quit playing lobby games altogether so I haven't seen any major BS in a while.

I havent seen anyone this whole season who late pitched it more than once. I think I saw maybe 4-5 all year at different times. I think it was used much more in previous versions. I think its to risky now with the added defensive pitch pick and the way ball gets fumbled when it hits anyone near the QB. Not like the old days when the ball would fly through people and still get to the RB.

Hart4Heisman wrote: what you're failing to understand is i dont care whether they try or not.... i dont try to late pitch but sometimes it happens. when it does i stop. and i expect other people to as well. cuz of the flaw of the game in that spot.

like i said already once, i dont care if you late pitch it every time, as long as you dont take advantage of the bullshit pitches and keep going you will get 5s from me
I got cha...some people, I think, assume it's done on purpose (if that is even possible in this year's version?) I wasn't sure where you stood and I agree with you.

I think along those lines then, it is important to then decide the difference between the "taking advantage of late pitch" and the "button mashing cpu waits until the QB is hit pitch". I now see Q4G's validity in his earlier question then...is what one considers a late pitch the same as everyone...which would be important to figure out if guys are indeed docking points for someone who gets a pitch off after his QB is hit and continues to run opposed to getting a pitch off while his QB is twisted around like a freakin' pretzel then continues to run.
...A valid statement?

Plus I've always been afraid to get docked points for the misconception that I am pitching late when in reality I'm mashing that pitch button but my QB doesnt pitch till after he's getting hit.

And I'm curious whats the view on an option style offense in general in the league. I know VTrunNgun runs it very well at GT but what is everyones opinion on people that run it. And what kind of passing game do you expect someone to use when running an option style offense? I'm really thinking about drafting a team that I can use the option but I also like to use my 3 and 4 wide short pass routes.

Anyone know of a good playbook that has quite a few option plays in it that isnt Flexbone and Wishbone heavy?
I've yet to go full go with it here in the NDL, for fear of being docked. But if you're a core I guy:

Air Force is the best. WVU is my second option, which allows me to pass more. To be successful with the pass out of either of these playbooks, you need to be pretty adept at hitting your backs. They are huge weapons.

Am I the only one that just sets their playstyle to "Play the Pitchman" and then I user control to the QB? I think I figured that out in the 1st few days the game was out.

How many users in this league even use the option on a regular basis? other than Georgia Tech? I know I didn't run into more than 10 option plays all season.

I set it to play the pitch man against GT in my bowl game, and he pitched it to the pitch man for an EA special 100 yard Touchdown run on me, so I wasn't too happy with that setting.

because for the most part i think play the pitch man is broken.. I have set it to that before and never once seen the guy play the pitch man.. they seem to play the qb... or inbetween..
So I always set it to play the qb.. and go for the pick on the pitch.

I agree that the obvious late pitch has been remedied and that now there are more fumbles or bad pitches when it happens, but it still does occur from time to time. If there is an obvious one and my opponent goes with it, I get annoyed, but once won't get them docked. Like others said, it is the continued abuse that gets it. If I am the beneficiary of one, I will dive or run out of bounds.

6' hit the nail on the head... they do play in between the QB/RB when you setup play the pitch. I'll let you guess the result. :-)

well I guess your teams just play it better.. cause my guys end up giving up the pitch, and getting caught up in no mans land.
