He's the fastest striker for the US Men's soccer team, a vital part of the squad, and he is very important for the team to make a run at WC2010--and as of now, it looks very improbable that he will recover in time. Other than Donovan, he's the only fast threat up top.
And he's lucky to be alive....they said the car was pretty much split in half. The woman was in the backseat and that's why she died.
U.S. national team forward Charlie Davies had several broken bones and a lacerated bladder after a one-vehicle accident Tuesday in which another person was killed.
Davies underwent several hours of surgery at Washington Hospital Center Medstar, where he was listed in serious but stable condition. The injuries make it unlikely Davis will play in next year's World Cup.
The tibia and femur in Davies' right leg were broken. He also sustained facial fractures and a fracture in his left elbow in the accident, which took place at about 3:15 a.m. in the suburbs of the nation's capital.

It's unfortunate to hear about his injuries and the death of the woman, but physical recovery might be the least of his worriesU.S. national team forward Charlie Davies had several broken bones and a lacerated bladder after a one-vehicle accident Tuesday in which another person was killed.

Re: Charlie Davies
And because I'm a man of the people, here's a pic of the chick that died:

Re: Charlie Davies
Thanks Shel. I had seen a photo of the car earlier but it had been taken down.
That's why I said she was dead because of her being in the back. They haven't released the name of the driver, I'm guessing he was drunk.
I also read somewhere that the woman was visiting and was a trainer for another soccer player, and he was also supposed to be with them, but was unable to join them for the evening. He's a very lucky man.

Re: Charlie Davies
I don't think I've ever seen a car that fucked up.
Re: Charlie Davies
That is really unfortunate. What could he have done to have split his car like that in a one car accident?

Re: Charlie Davies
That is amazing that anyone survived that type of accident.
Re: Charlie Davies
If this is drunk driving, I will be pissed. I am sick of it. I could operate a Boeing 757 whilst drunk. It is just a matter of understanding how drunk you are. If you hope in the car and say, "No, I'm fine!" you will crash.
Re: Charlie Davies
Davies is a VERY lucky man!!!
They just reported that he was in the BACK seat. He had his seat belt on.
Had he not, it's safe to say he would not be with us today. I also am very interested in hearing just what happened to split the car like that.

gotta be a tree or something like that
Re: Charlie Davies
The article I saw said the car hit a guard rail. It's probably in half from the fire dept. extracting the passengers. They probably cut the front off to get to the backseat.

Not likely, We are trained to cut roofs off to get to patients, not the car in half, although, i guess anything is possible.
