Re: Who Is Your Team??
CLEMSON TIGERS FOOTBALL.........why? After living in Maine/Massachusetts when I was a kid, my father (Department of Defense) had two places. One in Taunton, Massachusetts and One in Lugoff, South Carolina.......outside of Columbia. When I was 6 years of age in 1980, I attended the USC/Clemson football game with my father at Williams Brice Stadium. He received his Masters at USC, after attending N.C. State for his undergraduate. So he liked both schools. So he took me to the USC/Clemson basketball games too, as I started watching the Tigers when I was six/seven years of age. I also like the basketball team.
As for basketball, I attended the UNIVERSITY OF NEVADA-LAS VEGAS (UNLV) and have always liked the Runnin' Rebels since the days of Armon Gilliam and Jerry Tarkanian. After seeing them in the tournament in 1986, I followed them ever since, and then attended school here.
Therefore, Clemson Tigers football and basketball and UNLV Basketball!

Re: Who Is Your Team??
Rutgers
Basically half of the family has gone there, namely my father. His father had season tickets since about 1982, with one of their best memories together coming when the Scarlet Knights nearly took down Reggie White's Tennessee Volunteers. My grandfather has since passed and now I go to the games with my dad, which has been for about 10 years now. Rutgers football can drive you mad sometimes watching them play, but for fans who remember the winless seasons and years when we could only beat Army, you're ecstatic with where the team has gone lately.
South Florida
Went there for a year. Absolutely loved everything about the school and surrounding area. I don't religiously watch them or even TiVo the games, but anytime their on national TV I'm tuned in. Especially since I still know a handful of players on the team who are now upperclassmen and finally getting a chance to play.
Florida
First team I vividly remember seeing as a kid. We were in a restaurant and it was UF/FSU on the TV. I don't know why but I hated FSU from that day on. I remember my mom telling me about how one year in school we had to write about what you want for Christmas. Apparently the other kids in the class had huge lists (greedy bastards), but little ole Dub wrote all I want is a Florida Gators jacket. The teacher called home and asked if my parents were having financial problems

Re: Who Is Your Team??
Nebraska (obviously).
Was born in Lincoln and it has always been a must to follow the team. Moved to Kansas in 5th grade and that made it even more fun to root for the Huskers. I've turned many people into NU fans. All it takes is attending one game...or hell even the Spring Game. Of course it helps when you get to sit on field level for virtually any game. Can even get tickets the week of the game for face value.
One advantage of going with someone in a wheelchair I guess.

Texas Longhorns: Have always been a Longhorn thru and thru.
The dream of playing for them came thrue in 1996 and 1997 as I was given a scholarship to
play baseball there. Many memories during those times. (1996 SWC champions to close out the SWC under GUS after starting out 11-12) (then was under Coach Garrido for his first year in 1997). Two of the most decorated coaches in college baseball.
I rarely go to any baseball games simply for the fact that I miss it and I get emotional when I go to the field. But I am going to commit to going with my son this next season.
I absolutely hate TECH and OU for personal reasons. Yeah it's a few bad apples but that is all it takes to leave a bad taste in ones memory.
Another team I highly respect and always want to do well because of their class act is Nebraska.

Re: Who Is Your Team??
Well I have been a Colorado Buffs fan since High School which was the early Nineties.I have also been a fan of The Longhorns since then as well I still have a "starter" Jacket that I have had for like 15 years.Have also rooted for the Gators for the past ten years due to living in FL for a bit.Other than that I tend to root for the underdog if no favorite of mine is in the game.
Basketball well I have been a Syracuse fan since the days of Derrick Coleman,Billy Owens,Stevie Thompson, and of course Sherman Douglas.Being a Nuggets fan I was real happy that we were able to land Syracuse alum Carmelo Anthony.

Re: Who Is Your Team??
Living in a town 15 miles from Gainesville I was a Gator fan when they were coached by Charlie Pell.
my freshman year in high school (88), I went to Florida State to spend the weekend with my twin female cousins who introduced me to the wonderfulness that are Florida State and FAMU co-eds.
Been a Nole since then and attended/graduated 94-97.
(also I was born in South Carolina, have a lot of family there and had an uncle play there way back in the day..so they are all SC fans. By association they became my "2nd" fav team.)

We love Coach Lynch here in Lubbock. And he did do a masterful job with with 'ol Kris Klingsbury when he arrived.
Re: Who Is Your Team??
Is the 12.60 ERA you have against the Red Raiders one of those personal reasons?kdog36 wrote: I absolutely hate TECH and OU for personal reasons.
While I bust your balls, I do it with respect and love. But I completely understand what you are saying as I have personally apologized to visiting fans for some of the actions of the more "knuckle-headed" members of our fanbase.
I hope that in the future, you can forgive us for those past transgressions- and I mean that. But know that if you or your family should ever find yourselves in Lubbock, ya'll always will have a place to stay and a home-cooked meal to eat.

Just read this sorry. Yeah they had my number for sure. But the fan comment you made is more what I was talking about. Just a few as I am sure there are good fans in there some where
No hard feelings at all toward you
