Does home/away matter for connection?

Post by Uuaww »

I have played quite a few games now and am starting to see a pattern. When I am the home team, it seems my connection is a lot worse than when I am the away team. Today, I played Billroy twice and the first game I was home and we could barely get it to start, but when he was home, it went smooth for the entire game.

I've noticed it with my other games this season as well.

Is it a coincidence?

NCAA uses a P2P connection. Which means, one of you is hosting the game. It probably doesn't even look for the best connection but instead just gives hosting responsibility to the home team.

So, when a shitty connection hosts, the game lags.

I saw your network speeds a while back and it was barely above a dial-up. Letting somebody else host is really the only way you're going to get a smooth game.
