Tiger Woods Online - Free to Play game

Post by VTrunNgun »

Not to be pumping my former company or anything, but this new game they launched looks like a winner.

I know a bunch of you guys play Tiger Woods golf year round, so i'm curious as to your impressions of this game.

I haven't played yet, but I'm definitely intrigued.

I played a couple rounds today. I shot a 62 and a 64 at St. Andrews with a created player from the white tees. If I had played from the blacks it probably would have been much harder just because of drive distance. It's easy to aim and the tri-click makes it easy. I'll move to the blue tees next round and see how that affects the game. Only complaint is that it is cool to be able to chat with everyone that is playing the same course as you, there were some skinheads playing the game and you had to put up with their racist rants the whole time.

EA needs to reassess its game making. I realize that this isn't a full-blown release for PS3 or 360 but this thread will allow me to vent.

Is it really necessary to bring out a new Tiger Woods game every year? Why is it that the sports game that should have the best graphics has the worst graphics? There's only one player on the screen at a time and basically all the game has to render is grass and trees. That's what gets to me the most about this game. The graphics are absolutely embarrassing.

If they made the game come out every two years they could make serious changes that would actually improve the game. Tiger Woods games are some of my favorites, but its getting tiring buying a brand new game for shit that could be released as downloadable content.

I have been playing the beta for a few moths now. I like the game, but I am horrible using the mouse trying to play it. It is still fun though.

I agree totally, and I think this is the EA's first step in that process, at least for PC games. I think you will see fewer and fewer pc games coming out on a disc, and they will only be available thru download or web based like this Tiger Game. With the game being played from their servers they can update and release content at their will. It shouldnt be necessary to release a whole new version every year. They can update as they go.

I have been playing the demo for about 4 months, and almost weekly they update the game and add and subtract features. I really think this will be the way of most of the games in the future.
