Big 10 has supposedly made it's initial offers

Come one, come all. Talk about anything not league or video game football related here.

You really should get off these forums because, in the 45 minutes, your sense of humor has gone somewhere around the water cooler and the key to the bathroom. Nebraska should have won a Nobel Prize for what they did in 2000.

That is actually pretty cool. Ok, Nebraska is good. They would benefit from moving to the BT. Plus you can watch all their games for free! I'm tired and I lost my point somewhere in these 5 pages. Lets hug it out.

Nope, I did not go to Brown. I am an alumni of Illinois.

Brown Bear was a joke amongst friends when I was 12. I dont even remember what the joke was. I used "brwnbear" to sign into my first AOL account about 16 years ago when "brownbear" was taken. I have used it ever since.

On a side note. I think most people assume I am black because of my name. I'm not.

I am in the same type of business you are in. Only I deal more with fee based planning and less with individual day to day trading than you might.

Nice... PrimetimePlayer... jacked it the week that AOL removed their 12 letter screen name limits. I'd guess that was around 1996.

As a Penn State fan, I think it's great that Nebraska / Missouri are on board. But honestly, I'm more thrilled about Rutgers. PSU already has a strong line into NJ, so here's hoping we can turn them into another "Maryland" for us. Love ya Terp fans! Maybe the expansion of the Big 10 Network also gives us some love in NY.

I have to admit though, the idea of a East - West conference alignment is pretty scary. PSU, OSU, Michigan and potentially ND is pretty nasty.

Fee based is how you pay the bills. If you dont mind me asking, what is the wrap % rate like in NY?

Oh, I didnt think about my sig.

Yea that would suck for you guys. There would be some pretty good games though. I figure they will probably go north-south.

Maybe they will go to soccer league stile and have a premier league of 8 teams and sub league of 6 teams. Then 2 teams get relegated and two teams get promoted. The top two teams in the premier league gets to play for the conference.

Then, the ACC would look to replace what it lost by raiding the Big East again of any football playing schools, they would take USF for sure and whoever is left.
I doubt USF is even in the discussions at this point. They would likely be left holding the bag. Very little tradition, cash strapped athletic department, bad basketball to boot. The ACC and SEC would add to react to the Big 10, regardless of whether they lost a team. No one wants to be left behind in the super conference race.
If the ACC lost three teams, including both of its Florida schools, who do you think they would look to pick up? And you have to consider that the top teams in the Big East would have already left to go to the Big 10.
What are you using to measure your top teams? The reason Pitt, Syracuse, and Rutgers are thrown around in the discussions is this supposed "tv market" argument and because of their academic reputation. If you're talking purely sports success and athletic revenue, UConn and WVU are your top two choices. USF is not even close.

all this BS will come about with a 16 team mega conference or whatever... 3 teams in one of the divisions will go 6-2 (incl. Northwestern), and Northwestern (8-4) will win the tiebreaker to go to the Big 10 Championship. They will win it, and go to the Rose Bowl and promptly get destroyed by someone.

Just wait, it will happen.

The ACC would want USF over West Virginia so it could stay in the Florida TV markets, if it did lose FSU and Miami

As I said earlier, the entire thing is driven by money and the next TV deal. There is less money out there than before so everybody is scrambling to maximize their share. You maximize your share by expanding your TV footprint.

That is why Boston College was attractive. Despite having the worst fan base that I have ever seen, they bring the Boston market. So, the ACC TV deal will include Boston. Rutgers is the same story. Another somewhat blah athletic program that just happens to be sitting in fertile TV land.

Either you have to be in a TV market or you have to be a big draw that adds to the overall value of the TV package. Nebraska is not in a big TV market but their name strengthens the TV deal. However, I would bet the Big 10 went after Texas before they went after Nebraska.

So, all the academic talk and good fit talk is just a way of selling expansion. It's all about the next TV deal.

I NEVER had any of that stuff until I got AIM and the only reason I did was because it was for my 1st ever online league, LOL.

But, again, I am from Louisiana, so that explains that.
