What about someone who watches it week-in, week-out around people FROM Europe and thus is exposed to it and adapts to it to speak to them?

I lived in an international dorm at UK....that's how I ended up learning most of it.

I'd just stick with my vernacular. Peer pressure can be a bitch, but tough it out.

It is odd, though. Europeans who talk hockey use the same language as everyone else.

Lol it wasn't peer pressure. It's like when you live around people who speak another language, you can end up picking some of it up. I hear this stuff every week watching matches, etc. It just becomes engrained in my mind.

I laughed my ass off at this.....it's from ESPN Soccernet's "Top 9 moments so far":
3. Cristiano Ronaldo's completely unjustified yellow card against Ivory Coast

Totally unwarranted card from referee Jorge Larrionda, but richly deserved. Guy Demel brought down Ronaldo with a sliding foul in the 21st minute and the ref gave them both yellow cards -- for exchanging words with each other. "I did nothing and he gave me a yellow card," Ronaldo said. "I do not understand." Here's a clue, Ronaldo -- you dive, you pout, you cheat, you whine. You are one of the most talented footballers in the world, but no one likes you.

Not sure there's a better way to put it. Shel, this is why announcers talk about him with such contempt--he's talented as fuck but would rather have everything handed to him than simply earn it.

I loved what he did for ManU while he was there....but God his diving and whining got old. He could've scored 50+ goals in 08-09 if he'd just stayed on his feet sometimes.

Great game between Argentina and South Korea... Couple of points...

1. I think it would be great to see Spain and Brazil early in the second round. There is no guarantee those two would get to the final so might as well get a great game early. I think there is enough talent (Argentina, England, France) to make it a good final.

2. I never really followed Ronaldo. I wonder if trust fund kids complain about how spoiled he is. The guy could be the face of the sport, my wife certainly thinks he has the looks and definately has the talent. Too bad he is such a baby. He is like Kobe Bryant of the sport without the rape charges, except with the rape charges.

3. I have been watching the world cup on Univision (gave up cable) and I am cracking up at the commercials. They had a bud light commercial where the guy invites his family to his girlfriends house and all his cousins and aunts are super hot and you can see the girl getting pissed off at how friendly they are.

4. Seems like the horns are dying down in the second round. I wonder if as the games go on, less and less South Africans will be able to afford tickets and the stadiums will be filled with more foreingers.

No, they are cancelling it out at the production level. Now, if I can only find a web stream that won't repeatedly crap out. My current stream looks like this

Are you sure? I swear I am hearing the actual fan chats right now. I am also distictly hearing a few individual horns but not at the level they where at before.

Hey, Trendon. I messed arount with OOPB (actually won a title with the Nationals in my 4th season) what do I do to get invited into the league.

They have managed to filter out the horns only. Luckily, the fucking things only blurt out the same asinine sound, so while not easy, it apparently is easy enough to isolate the sound. I am glad. After doing some reading, I found out that the vuvuzela is about as "traditional" as a Croissanwich is to America. They are bullshitting us with that crap.
