Re: ***Official World Cup Talk Thread***
That's nothing unusual for him. He almost started a post-match brawl a couple years ago at the U-21 world cup when the US beat Uruguay (I think). He jawed with a few guys and then helpfully reminded them of the score (2-1) a few dozen times with hand signals before his teammates had to hold him back and escort him off the field. You can probably figure out which finger he used for the 1 in the 2-1. I like him. He's probably my favorite American player next to Dempsey.packsyD22 wrote: Loved Bradleys kid talking shit at the end, about time someone showed some damn emotion out there.

before every game me and my friend make dumb bets like who will score first etc. the one he says everytime is, michael bradley gets a red card. hes matured but he still has that fire and you never know with him. but im in total agreement, hes my 2nd fav after DempseyLetsGoPeay wrote:That's nothing unusual for him. Woke up this morning just to see another replay of this.
Man I just can't let this go. As much as I have come to love this sport (with my kids playing it now) I just don't understand how in 15-20 matches nothing was called but all of a sudden we get the one ref that I am sure watched this same crap when Slov was in their own PK box, but he just decided that this was when it was time to enforce this unenforceable rule?
I need something good to happen today so I will not fret on this all day.
ONE WORD= HOSED.

France has officially imploded: Nicolas Anelka, their real only goal-scoring option at the top, has been sent home after he insulted the manager at halftime the other day and refused to apologize.
Hope they enjoy their last match against South Africa.

It turns out this ref has a history of cheating....
To international soccer observers well-versed in the performance of officials, today’s inexplicable performance by Coulibaly came as no surprise.
Though officiating his first World Cup, Coulibaly has long been a center of controversy in past international matches. His handiwork involving Tunisia in the 2010 Africa Cup resulted in fans setting up a Facebook group calling for his removal from FIFA. The group was called: “TUNISIA ALL AGAINST Koman Coulibaly the cheater.”
Coulibaly though is most known for an inexplicable call in a 2006 World Cup qualifying match that should’ve handed home team Cameroon a spot in the World Cup - which in turn would’ve absolutely robbed Ivory Coast in the process. From Yahoo Eurosport:
Coulibaly awarded Cameroon a disputed stoppage-time penalty kick in their final 2006 World Cup qualifier against Egypt in Yaounde (Cameroon) that, had they converted, would have taken them through to the finals.
Instead, Cameroon’s Pierre Wome was unable to convert the gift-wrapped goal from Coulibaly, striking a post and sending Ivory Coast to Germany.
Former USA star Eric Wynalda has asked that he be investigated for corruption. I doubt it will happen, but it IS nice to know that FIFA has ordered an expedited evaluation of his performance, and sources close to the officiating board state that he has reffed his final match at the World Cup. He may be a linesman or help in another capacity, but he is done as a ref.

Anelka sucks, but yeah that team is in shambles and really has been for a few years nowjsence2 wrote:France has officially imploded: Nicolas Anelka, their real only goal-scoring option at the top, has been sent home after he insulted the manager at halftime the other day and refused to apologize.

Re: ***Official World Cup Talk Thread***
This is why FIFA sucks. They need to stop being PC and employing refs that shouldn't be doing World Cup games. Only the best refs in the world should be doing WC games.

Fucking offsides
USA get screwed out of a goal, and Italy gets screwed on a goal that should've been disallowed.

Re: ***Official World Cup Talk Thread***
so since it was deflected that makes him offsides correct?
Does the deflection off of the defender make him safe though?

Re: ***Official World Cup Talk Thread***
The feed I am watching kept repeating how brutally offside it was but never showed an angle for me to see it.
That said, Italy losing would make me very happy. I'll be on the phone for hours today laughing at every friend and family member I know.

The horns are completely out of control this match. They have changed the way they blow them, I swear, to combat the filters.

Yes, no.
There was a flick-on by the leaping attacker--that made the scorer offside when the ball was played to him. Had the free kick not been touched, he would've been onside as he was onside when it was sent into the box.
Now, the ball deflected off Cannavaro but that didn't make him onside; it's the same as if the goalie makes a save and a player is offside when the shot was taken. He was already offside and was involved in the play (too close to the goalie).
And I was about to post that, Trendon; they're doing SOME rhythm finally
