BTW I never played soccer why do guys when they are so close to the goal feel like they need to crush the ball instead of just tapping it in.
Speaking from a hockey standpoint since I've never played soccer beyond pick-up games ... because you don't have eyes in the back of your head. Also, I don't know if it is taught or just instinctive, but missing a shot while rocketing it won't be met with as much scorn or second-guessing as a finesse shot. Even further, hard shots generate more rebounds than finesse shots.
Perhaps the Marquis of FIFA can elaborate more since he's played the game.

Not sure, ask Packsy. He knows Matt Moore or haven't you heard.... 129 times....?
Jerk......
We continually get bent over by the officials, its getting really frustrating.

It isnt often when you find yourself with a lot of space in front of the net. So lots of time you are in a hurry to "tap" the ball in. The faster you need to "tap" the ball in the faster your foot accelarate to the ball, the more power you put on your shot.
Rooney needs to retire from this world cup and delete all his footage from the record. He has been absent the first 2 games, misses the ball on an open shot inside the penalty area, and now misses a one on one with the keeper.

I'd say that's exactly it. I liken it to a basketball situation where you're at the rim and your natural instinct is to go up and dunk the shit out of the ball. Of course a dunk is a much higher percentage shot than any soccer shot, as Yakubu from Nigeria proved yesterday.

I really think he is suffering; ManU needed him so badly that he rushed back from multiple injuries (including a groin one) to play and he never got the rest he needed. I think it's affecting him, whether he'll admit it or not.

I was JUST typing that we needed to bring Buddle on and move Clint back to midfield and take off Edu. Good call by Bradley, we need Dempsey's creativity in the midfield right now. His son will need to stay back more, though.
