Re: Droid X
I just purchased another one for the same price of $337.00 with the $100.00 rebate. Expensive phone, but should be nice to play with when it comes on August 4th. Data plan comes out to $23.99 per Droid X + plus $98.00 for the Family Plan of 2000 talk minutes + Unlimited Text -Picture Messaging + $9.99 for extra phone line that is not a Droid X. Originally it was $120.00 for the Family Share Plan but with the discount from my job, you get 18% percent off the bill. If you work for a certain employer, you can enter your employer and then Verizon will either give you a discount or not. Worth trying, as I get 18% off my bill, which helps out a lot.
Re: Droid X
I'm getting mine next Friday!!! Thought I was going to have to wait till July but my parents upgrade was able to get it and they talked with Verizon to get the phone on my line instead of theirs.
Re: Droid X
Yeah, I work for Home Depot and Verizon offers some cool discounts. The best is probably waiving a deposit. It may not mean a lot to some guys who are a bit older than me and have some credit rolling, but I'm still working on building mine. When I got my iPhone, I was going to open my own account and AT&T wanted a $500.00 deposit. I told them they were fucking crazy and added a line to my parents account
I've paid off a car in my name (dad as a co signer)
I've paid off a $2000 loan in my name (dad as a co signer)
Then When I got a new bed, my parents put it in my name.. just for credit purposes.
Hopefully I'll have enough to put the next thing in my name completely.

Re: Droid X
Maybe I'm a cheapskate but I just don't wanna drop $300 on this. The rebates take too long to get here for me to feel like I only paid $200. Isn't it normally like 2 months? And also, I doubt I get any significant upgrade discount.
Re: Droid X
I got mine from the online store. Rebate was already taken off, and if you order online the activation is free and they ship it second day for free. Mine was $215 with tax. Got it yesterday.
Re: Droid X
Didn't you have to take it to the store to activate it and set it up though? I'll definitely get this phone if I can order it online like that for $215 as my upgrade.Husker698 wrote:I got mine from the online store. Re: Droid X
Yeah, Tee as long as you have your upgrade that is the cost online.
Re: Droid X
I was 7 months away from my upgrade, it didn't matter. As far as activation, you do it over the phone. You just need the order number, which is shipped in the box. It takes 5 minutes.

When they announced the released the Droid X they gave everyone who has less than a year left on the upgrade an option to do the 2 year upgrade now. That's how I ened up gettting it. Mine doesn't come available till next July but my parents were up for an upgrade on my grandmother's line so we were able to get the phone through the upgrade and sign it up to my line.
Re: Droid X
So when you called and activated it I'm guessing they told you your updated price on the plan after adding the $30 data package?Husker698 wrote:I was 7 months away from my upgrade, it didn't matter. Re: Droid X
I already had a data plan, so it was no different, but yes you have to have the plan. It's an automated system, you dont talk to anyone just enter your phone number and verify the order number.
Re: Droid X
The extra data charge that they have is for the WIFI hotspot features. If you have the data plan already I don't think you have to purchase the 20 dollar plan for the hotspot capabilities.
Re: Droid X
you just pay if you go over the alotted amount using the hotspot that comes with the data plan

Re: Droid X
After ordering it on Monday evening, it came today.........fast shipping, as the sales representative said we would be getting them both on August 4th. Easy activation.
Re: Droid X
nice, did the apps I recommend give you an even better experience? I have been really liking the fact I can take a picture with the phone and upload it straight to whatever I want basically.DRiccio21 wrote:such a badass phone btw
everything about it is great
Re: Droid X
Yeah I'm going to be getting this phone hopefully this week online for $200. It sucks that the shipping is so far backed up due to high demand. I found this backup assistance thing so I won't lose my contacts but I'm just wondering will I lose my data and pictures for upgrading it online and activating through the phone? If I do it's not a big deal really but I was just curious.
Re: Droid X
I was looking around and figured that out. I'll be ordering it sometime this week. Most of what I read indicated it would take a week or week and a half at most.DRiccio21 wrote:It comes much sooner then the date they give u online
