Re: Strategy question
I refuse to use any of the strategy shit, if you need that advantage go ahead and use it, it is in the game. I choose not to use it. Some of its garbage. I ve only played one opponent in 14 games league wise that used the pass thing. I refuse to use these strat things to gain an advantage, if it costs me using the buckeyes then so be it, the league is about more than that to me. jmo ofcourse.

This game is pure entertainment for me. I am a teacher so I do not have time to "lab" all the plays and play scrimmages. I am always grading and prepping for the next day and week.
To have fun playing the game I will continue to run every play in the playbook both offensively and defensively even the cover 3 which never works and always leads to big scores for my opponent

But this is my opinion, I won't tell anybody how to play their game. This is just the way of Quack and I agree with buckeye!

Re: Strategy question
Claiming that you lost your team because you didn't use the strategy stuff is laughable. It also implies that everybody you played did. I have yet to play a game where somebody used it.

Re: Strategy question
I'm still not convinced they even help, but lord if I know. I played a scrimmage tonight and used pass strategy a couple of times and don't think I noticed a thing. Of course my D sucks regardless, so who knows.

Re: Strategy question
I think Hoos gets an F for not quoting who he was talking about in Reign and Shel gets a D+ for not realizing he wasnt talking about Buckeye.

I'm better than Hoos as usual!!!!
Re: Strategy question
i dont care, I'm gonna write it in my contract and have ppl read before the games. Controlling your DE and trying to switch on the fly to a CB/S when the pass is thrown is the reason momentum shifted last game as I gave up a like 75 yard bomb cause I completely overran the play.
Least with this strat thing, my defense won't be completely useless. I'm serious, COMPLELTELY useless. So useless i misspelled it but I'm gonna keep going. ugh.
If I lose points, then I'll.....who cares I'm not picking top 10 anyways

Re: Strategy question
I NEVER use "Guess Pass"; however last night I faced a 6'6" freak WR (against my 5'10" CB) so I did the "Key Receiver" thing to make sure my defense was always watching him; and apparently if the QB throws to him and you knock it down, pick it, anything but a catch by him, it flashes "guess pass +5"
Now personally I see no problem with keying on a receiver--it's something you'd do in REAL LIFE. You'd shade your defensive looks to take him away. However, people may dock someone for "guessing pass" when they actually simply told the pass coverage to watch him, and it seems to have absolutely no effect on the pass rush, unlike "Guess Pass". So I'd say be careful when docking guys just because you see some strategy points.
That said, I doubt I'll see another WR like that so I'll probably not need to use it again

I learned that first hand 2 seasons ago. I used the Key WR feature my first 6 games until one guy told me it showed up as Play the Pass. And this was when Play the Pass was really frowned upon. Sure enough, get my coaches reports end of the season, and 3 comments about Play the Pass. Ah well.

I'd never used it before last night, mostly because I'd never figured out HOW

Re: Strategy question
You not understanding the context of what I wrote and exaggerating it to mean "everybody is using it,' is what's really laughable.Hoos wrote:Claiming that you lost your team because you didn't use the strategy stuff is laughable. The point I was making is that if I had used zone adjustments, aggressive INT/conservative Swat, and "Play the Pass," then I might have had a better chance at stopping/slowing down some of the insane passing. Slowing it down 1x in just 2 of 3 games would have saved my job. Hence the POV that it cost me my job.
Maybe you enjoy watching your defender in zone coverage let a WR cross his face and he doesn't move, or a ball thrown right at him and it hits him in the head is something you think is fun to watch. Me? I expect the defense to react properly. If I call the right play, I expect a good result. I don't have an issue with getting blown out if I'm calling a terrible game. But there's no fun in playing when you're calling a great game and you repeatedly see the execution fail. I refuse to be the coach that runs man coverage all game.
Overall, I'd rather see coaches mix up their zone/man and their passing concepts, while using strats, then simply spending all game running the same passing concepts and man coverage.
I haven't had any issues with my use of the strats so far this season (or if there have been, they haven't said anything), because I use them in reasonable moderation. (3rd & long, etc) I'm just being open about using them.
I see some guys post that they use secure catch / protect ball, but won't use the others. I'm curious, why is it ok to use those based on the situation and not use Play the Pass, Int/Swat, based on the situation? (we know the answer on guess run/jts)

Re: Strategy question
That's interesting jsence, I haven't played around with the Key feature as much as the others. Since I'm seeing the same routes in similar situations, I wonder if this might help to stop them. I'm not looking for a 'cure all,' I'm just extremely frustrated with knowing exactly what is coming and still not being able to do anything about it. With this, I could potentially key the 1st option of the setup and cover the 2nd myself. At least then, if it gets beat, it's because I screwed up, not because of poor CPU AI.
