Let's review....

1) someone actually paid ATTENTION to a homeless person. Be honest with yourselves, how many of you avoid looking at a homeless person on the side of the road, knowing if you do and make eye contact then you'll appear a dick for not helping? I know I've done it before; not proud of it, but I have.

2) This guy has stayed clean while living on the streets for two years, that's an accomplishment in itself

3) He's getting a chance at not only a second shot, but also getting off the streets

4) He's also going to do a lot to help other homeless people

5) This guy wasn't asking for a ton; he even said he'd be "thrilled with a job paying 18K or 22K, anything to have a chance at a better life"

I find this to be a truly amazing story for all of those reasons. But, to each their own.

I agree with you and aj to certain extents. One of the oddest experiences I had last semester was a trip to the beach close to sunset. Had a lot going on and just needed a place to kind of sit down and think. A homeless guy (Jerry) came up and made conversation with me. It was a very interesting hour. Changed my thinking some as he was an exceptionally smart guy and pointed out that he made mistakes that led him to how he got to where he was in life. I do realize that not all put themselves in a situation to end up with that as their final result, but aj has a point on people trying to do right that get punished in the long run. A lot of people are unemployed who did nothing to deserve it, just a business decision. Everyone deserves another chance and I hold no ill will towards this guy getting another one.
