I've played a little, not that mode yet though. Do you have to do the campaign to unlock it or play the team game?

From what I've read you have to beat the single player or the co-op campaign.

Also, and I haven't confirmed this, I've heard that playing co-op campaign online earns experience for multiplayer ranks. Anyone know if this is true? Might be worthwhile option for some of us to get some higher levels/weapons unlocked.

There are challenges that you can earn if you get them. You don't get points for individual kills, but when I played I was on a 50 and 75 kill streak and earned some challenges for that. Also completed a challenge of killing a bunch of people with an air strike.

There is online co-op. But you can unlock this playing single-player as well.
