Pre-Season Top 5
Pre-Season Top 5
I was bored and whipped this up since no else has posted anything:
1. LSU – Shel311
Sure, Shel hasn’t had much time to hone his skills this pre-season (twins will do that to you), but does it matter? LSU is loaded. On offense the Tigers possess probably one of the most dynamic passing attacks in the game. Zack Mettenberger has as good an arm as any rocking a THP/THA split of 93/88. At the WR position Rueben Randle is a monster with an overall rating of 90 and a 6’4” frame. Did I mention the 2-4 WRs are 85, 81 and 80 overall respectively and that DeAngelo Peterson is pretty much a WR disguised as a TE?
As far as defense goes we all know the drill. The Tiger front seven isn’t as strong as it was in past seasons, but the secondary is stout. You would think losing Patrick Peterson would hurt, but it honestly had little to no effect on the Tigers. Take into account that Shel has better user skills than most and you got a recipe for interceptions and coverage sacks…in bunches. Even with a brutal conference slate I still expect Shel to finish the season ranked #1 in the BCS and play for the MNDLNC (Mythical NCAA Dynasty League National Championship).
2. Alabama – BFiVL
Poor Bama. The Crimson Tide are hands down one of the top 3 teams in the game and should be a lock for the MNDLNC game…however they play in the SEC West, home of Shel’s LSU Tigers. On offense I expect Trent Richardson to easily eclipse the 1200+ yard mark and score at least 15 touchdowns on the ground. I would pencil Richardson in for 2000 yards, but Bama is a good sport and will give Eddie Lacey his fair share of opportunities. I honestly feel sorry for anyone who has to try to stop Alabama’s rushing attack.
Defense? Umm, yeah the Crimson Tide have an absurd 7 starters rated 90 or above. Bama could make himself a Boston Seltzer while on defense and come back 20 seconds later to see that his opponent is facing a 4th and 30 from their own 5 yard line; the Crimson Tide defense is really that damn good. If not for Shel, I would fully expect Bama to play in his first ever title game (which he would without a doubt lose), but since he can’t skip playing LSU he will have to settle for second place in the SEC West and spot in the Sugar Bowl.
3. Oklahoma – Bearass
A few years back Bearass tried to lobby his way into the MNDLNC game at my expense. Thankfully the rest of the NDL knew that voting Oklahoma into the title game would be a bad idea and I won another championship (suckers!). Well Bearass, now is your chance to play in the grand daddy of them all—all you have to do is not choke it all away. On offense the Sooners have a passing game which everyone should envy. Landry Jones + Ryan Broyles + Kenny Stills = touchdowns. Honestly Bearass, I bet even Dolemite could throw for 40 touchdowns with those three at his disposal…don’t screw it up.
The Sooner defense is about as good as you can get besides Alabama. Each starter is in the 85-90+ range and the guys behind them aren’t bad either. The only problem is the Big 12 (Texas 10) is full of top flight offenses and coaches. I think the Oklahoma defense will give up some points to the likes of Texas A&M and rival Oklahoma State, but it’s nothing Landry Jones can’t fix with deep ball or two to Broyles or Stills. I mean seriously? Who the hell needs a defense with those guys?
4. Oregon – HuskerKev
Over the past few seasons Kev has done a bang up job at just about every school he’s coached. When you play him you know you’re going to be in for a high scoring affair as his offensive game plan is second to none and he should have no problem putting up points with Darron Thomas and LaMichael James. I fully expect the duo to post some of the most insane numbers in league history and both be in the running for the Heisman Trophy.
…with that said Kev has just one small problem standing between him and potentially playing for the MNDLNC; his defense. Oregon has a pretty decent defense, but Kev has never been known for his defense. He gives up points. Lots of points. I’d be willing to wage that at some point this season he scores 70 points...and gives up 69. I bet whenever Kev reads this he will be shaking his head in agreement with me. If he improves his defense there is probably no one outside of 2-3 players who could stop him. Pray to God he stays defensively inept.
5. Boise State – Nole4real
The Bronco offense is probably the most balance offense in the game. Kellen Moore can throw a football a quarter-mile into Dixie cup blindfolded without spilling a drop of water that’s what happens when EA gives you a 97 THA. Doug Martin is just a bruiser. He will run through you and then run by you. Between those two and the offensive line it really doesn’t matter that your top wide receiver is some white kid named Shoemaker. Wait? EA gave his ass a 90 overall rating? Jesus Christ…
While the Bronco offense is top notch the defense is, as Hoos would say, “meh.” The front four is stout, but the linebackers leave a lot to be desired and the secondary is pretty hit or miss (mostly miss after your take George Iloka out of the equation). With that said, the defense is more than adequate enough to handle the MWC handily (minus TCU). I think Nole will run the table with the Broncos, but will be left on the outside looking in when it comes to the title hunt. If I couldn’t do it Nole, you can’t do it…you’re going to be left playing golf on the moon bitch! Cold Blooded!

LSU should be bumped down about 31.Nole4real wrote:i agree though, wisky is at top of the list and everyone else should be bumped down 1

And you're #1 and #2's finished game rate is hovering around 15%, so just getting through the season at all will be a win for Mike and I.

Re: Pre-Season Top 5
I wasn't just nodding at what you said....my defense is downright laughable. Just when I think I figured SOMETHING out, i'd give up 50 points the next game. If I finish .500 I'll be surprised. No practice = long season. Still looking forward to it. Can't wait to finally get the game.
