Also .. we can do a 10-week schedule and an 8-team playoff, or an 11-week schedule and a 4-team playoff. How do people feel about either one?

Re: Season 5 thread for NDL College Fantasy Football
the 8 team playoff seems a lot but could be nice to see. The 4 team playoff seems not enough! I say the 8 team playoff.
Re: Season 5 thread for NDL College Fantasy Football
I say 4, or none. It is college fantasy football, not the NFL.

Re: Season 5 thread for NDL College Fantasy Football
All I can say is defintely won't be the none option ... because in a 16-team league, you lose your first three games, you're pretty much out. It will be playoffs for sure, just either 4 or 8.

I'm stuck between the 2. There are good reasons for both. Going to think about it overnight and then give my answer.

I just know, every NFL fantasy league I've done, usually its 12 teams, and eight make playoffs ... we have 16 teams, and we only want four to make it? You do that, half the league is playing for nothing by week 6, and you lose interest. So, you get where I'm leaning towards, but I want everyone's input.

I wanted that last year!!! Damn!
I'm fine with the way we didast yr. 4 is my vote. But, I won't stand in the way of an 8 consensus.

Good point... I change my vote to 8 teams.Mtwasik wrote:I just know, every NFL fantasy league I've done, usually its 12 teams, and eight make playoffs ... we have 16 teams, and we only want four to make it? whatever... you can always make a penalty for coming in last.
thats what i do in my fantasy leagues i run. last 3 places have to pay more $. something to consider for next season.. but it keeps guys active.

You can also consider adding a 10% admin fee as well.DRiccio21 wrote:whatever... you can always make a penalty for coming in last.

Re: Season 5 thread for NDL College Fantasy Football
Generally 50% is my breaking point. The only thing that had me tentative about doing 8 was that the regular season is so short already, it would be nice to have 1 more game just in case you start out bad. But then the opposite being if you do start bad, it's easier to get in with 8 as opposed to 4.
I'll vote for 8.

8 of 12 make the playoffs in your NFL leagues? Why even bother with a regular season?

Re: Season 5 thread for NDL College Fantasy Football
I don't run them, but of the 10 serious ones I've been in that were money, 9 did 8 teams, 1 did 4 teams, but that was of 8 coaches, so that's 50% of the players making it.VeniVediV1ci wrote:are you kidding?Mtwasik wrote:I just know, every NFL fantasy league I've done, usually its 12 teams, and eight make playoffs ... we have 16 teams, and we only want four to make it? Re: Season 5 thread for NDL College Fantasy Football
Guys, what about this option?
8-team playoffs (so 8 of 16 coaches make it)
60% of pot goes to overall winner
20% of pot goes to 2nd place
10% of pot goes to bowl week
and ... 10% of the pot goes to the regular season winner. That way, if you finish first but lose in first round of playoff, you still get money?

Re: Season 5 thread for NDL College Fantasy Football
I run 3 NFL leagues and use the following set up:
12 teams
2 Divisions
6 Team playoff, division winners get a 1st rnd bye.
Each division winner gets their buy-in back.
1st place pays: 70% of remaining
2nd place pays: 30% of remaining
I could look up the history on the 3 leagues over the last 7-8yrs, but it's pretty common for a non-division winner to win the league. This normally makes up for the having a 3rd place payout and if you had a great regular season, you don't feel ripped off.

Re: Season 5 thread for NDL College Fantasy Football
And to apply that to our 16 team format, I'd say 8 team playoff, pay the top 2 division winners their buy-in and go 70% / 30%. 1st/2nd.
With 8 teams, it's an even tougher road for the division winners.
