There are 3 things here.

1.) Line Shift - Moving the line automatically, presnap.

2.) Line Crashing - Calling for the line to move in a particular direction, like towards the strong/weakside of the field, when the ball is snapped.

3.) Guess Run - Don't do it.

Crashing used to be a HUGE issue on PS2 days, because the crashes could be easily lined up with audibled blitzes to create super blitzes (some call them nano). Hasn't been a factor for awhile, at least 3 versions.

the first part, if done in moderation, i would never think of docking for. choosing a 'crash right' or 'crash left' i'd dock on reports.

dont get this mixed up with the guees features as they are banned to use.

telling your line to crash left or right is not the same as the guess features and is not near as bad as the past versions. A matter of fact I am willing to bet if you run a test game you will not see a big deal of change.

I bet that counter SG handoff would work great on a D line slant left or right.

in fact if ou replaced crash with SLANT would that go over a little better

Crash is a harsh word anyway

#2 and #3 i wouldn't like to see in a game i was playing and haven't seen pretty much ever.

#1 i have no problem with unless its done every play.

i rarely if ever dock guys either so take it for what its worth

I'll get ridiculed for this but I shift my line how I would want them to shift In real life if I were the D coordinator.

I think the question is would you have an issue with a coach shifting his line every time you lined up with a TE or off balanced line?

I either shift my LB's or my DL

I would not or do not have an issue

I am not good enough to have an issue. lol

Reign I agree with you 100% on shifting and all that but also the lack of people every telling an opponent what they dont like so they can change it. The reason why not a lot of people do this is because either A) they are scared to get into an altercation with someone or B) they just dont care and will just dock them.

I like posts like this because now I know what certain people like and what certain people dont like. I can now make their game a little more enjoyable but trying not to do what irritates them. Everyone has something that pisses them off just if you dont tell the person then well they cant fix it. lol

I don't dock for things that irritate me unless I feel they are east room tactics. Like trying to time the line shift with the snap. Or bunching the line and crashing every passing down.( seems to free up a dlineman every time)
Some guys will bunch the line on goal line defense every play. That might irritate me but it is my job to beat it. If you've stopped me a couple times in short yardage by doing something, I should adjust my playcalling to counter it. I'm not going to dock you for it.
If someone is lineshifting towards the strong side every play, I'm going to call more weak side plays. I'm not going to dock them because it irritates me that I have to wait for my line to adjust their blocking scheme.

As long as guys aren't moving at the snap, the blocking AI picks them up just fine. Now if guys are moving, then it messes things up.

I'd say one shift is fine; I've seen a few coaches who shift 3-4 times presnap, and it makes me wonder if they're trying to get me to snap the ball as they're moving to gain an advantage. Now THAT I'll dock for if I see it a bunch but luckily it never came to that.

The 155 Prowl does tend to cause issues though as their motion doesn't stop for 8-10 seconds.

As for overloads....I see no problem with that; it's able to be countered in two ways--shift your line to block that way, or run away from it.

Last years game, If you shift you d-line to one side and your LB's to the other side, it did fuck with the AI. Had a few coaches who would do this in key situations and one coach who did it every single defensive snap. I am a moderation guy, I could give 2 shits about real life arguments. I personally hate to play guys who shift constantly, hot route constantly, motion constantly, and audible constantly. We try and make this league as sim as possible but this game always has flaws that folks take advantage of and some folk will use the IRL shit. Look, we aint playing 15 min quarters with a 20 min halftime, I aint watching film or practicing every day for my weekly oppt, so this game aint real life.

This league is almost entirely composed of offenses that throw the ball to three different routes that take less than two seconds to develop. If anything, you should be happy that rule is in effect that you can't move defensive lineman laterally ... it is an antiquated rule that was in place when you could speed rush in the PS2 versions. Even then, I laughed at the rule because I generally WANTED people to speed rush with their defensive end. I just took off with the QB every time.

So with all this said, I am going to start a new strategy for next season. It's pretty easy. If I win, you get all 5's across the board. If I lose, I'm giving out all 1's. I can't remember the last time I gave out more than 2 or 3 4's in a whole season. So now I have to worry about shifting my line 10-15 plays a game because some homer might think that is too much? Get the hell outa here. People need to pull their big girl panties up and just play the game.

If you are one of those people please don't accept my OOC game request and please don't send me one.

None of the below applies to this season because I was in a bind to get my games in, but it applies to other seasons and all seasons going forward. I send out a PM to people explaining that I will use every single option available to me to win the game. Every one; and I expect you to do the same. Also, I literally actually DOCK people points if you DON'T have strategy points, pick plays too fast repeatedly, use no motion of cadence, or anything else that I consider to be in the realm of "not really paying attention."

Things like moving your line, using strategy points, pouring it on, stopping at the goal line to waste time, user blitzing, faking kicks, pausing a lot, lots of motion/shifts, no-huddle, play action, quick snapping, taking forever to snap the ball, trying to strip every play, line on aggressive, big run, etc etc etc ... have fun, I expect you to try and win the game and it ain't like I don't have the same fucking copy of NCAA Football 12 that you do.

On the flip side of that George is some folks need to put their big girl panties on when they get their coaches reports and get lit up. Every one thinks they play straight and every one has a different definition of what is straight game play when it comes to league play.
There are legit complaints on gameplay and there are a ton of whiners, my rule of thumb for this league and it has served me well is on my coaches reports if you get multiple negative comments, its you, if you get one, then let it roll off your back. Do shit in moderation, dont do stuff that gives the illusion or perception of repetition. Mix up game play and looks, especially in situations that happen a lot during a game like 3rd and passing situation. IF you come out in the same defense on 3rd down, and do the same shifts, and run the same defense over and over, shit like that gets noticed. Same for offense, if you constantly have that one play you run over and over in certain situations, that shit gets noticed.
Coaches reports and how folks play is their business, do what you want, but if you get lit up by multiple guys, its all you man.

And, for the record, I am still against the "guess run" ban since it is LOL hilarious when you guess wrong. However, that would require people to use motion and shifting (i.e. calling a strong side run, shifting your TE to the weak side, faking the run hot route, and then running to the strong side anyway) and we wouldn't want these "adults" in here to have to think when they could just call two dives and a skinny post for the first down.
