I think my router is broken
So my power went out (yea it happens to me a lot) and then I could not get a internet connection to anything ps3 or computer. After fiddling with it for a lil bit I plugged my ethernet cord from my computer to my modem and it worked so thats how i have it now. When i plug everything into the router I can not get a signal at all.
Also my other problem is that when hardwire my ethernet cable from my modem to my ps3 it says no ip address is found.
Any help would be nice, you can aim me at NJartfreak714 or just post here. Thanks!

Does the router's "internet" or "connectivity" light flash? It is rare that this would flash and it not work.
Re: I think my router is broken
when going direct connect from modem to ps3 you have to power down both the modem and the ps3 .. Connect them while they are both powered down, turn on the modem first then the ps3 and it should work .. If your ps3 doesn't auto recognize the connection run your easy network setup .

Where you using wireless or wired from your router to your PS3? If you were wireless and now you're wired you have to change your settings in network connections on the PS3.
Re: I think my router is broken
Do a factory reset on the router and set everything up again.
If that doesn't work, throw away router and get a new one.

Re: I think my router is broken
I hit the reset button on the router but now i dont know how to set it up. Anyone have a good tutorial?
Also I have to check to see how the direct connection goes. I know I have to switch to wired connection on my ps3 but it was coming up as not being able to find my ip address. Now I know I have to turn off the ps3 and reset the router. Thanks for the tip

I'm sure this new thing called Google has a manual.

You're going to have to get a specific tutorial on the brand and make of your Router.SuddenBlues wrote:I hit the reset button on the router but now i dont know how to set it up. Anyone have a good tutorial?

Re: I think my router is broken
Was it a power outage during a lightning storm? If so your router might have been fried. I had the same thing happen to me.

Glad you got it fixed Sudden.
The reason that 6ft told you what he did, a Modem from your Internet Service Provider (ISP) only assigns out 1 IP address per house. If it is a standard modem.
The new ones from ISP's that have routers in them, assign up to 255 of them.
But back to my point, if you have a router plugged into your modem, the router got assigned an IP address.
If you then disconnect your router and try plugging anything else in, unless it has the same IP address that your router had, it will not work.
So you reset the modem and the device, the modem will then assign out a new ip address to the device.
If you ever have your ps3 hard wired and you go back to plugging in a router, you have to reset all of the devices again so that it will assign an ip address to your router. Then the router will assign ip addresses to everything that connects to it.
A router is sharing the 1 public IP address that your modem receives from your ISP to everything in your house.
