very little chance i'll mess with sliders unless we come across a major issue. i think its important to be able to play with default so there is an easy transition to play online or offline.packsyD22 wrote:Hit up that doctor guy for some sliders.

Re: NDLH Season 3
Finally cracked this open after a week of trying to find time to play. I logged about 2hrs of game time. I messed with some settings, played practice (scrimmage) and then finally played a game. All on default (Pro) skill level.
A few things that I used last year are gone or they are in a different place that I haven't figured out yet.
1.) My quick plays aren't as simple as Cut / Pick and Roll / Iso, now they are named plays and always seem to feature my star player.
2.) The style adjustments are gone. Like offensive pace, crashing the boards, and defensive pressure. I liked using these on the fly to mix up the style or adjust for my opponents tendencies.
As for the controls, this is going to take a lot of work. I didn't use the shot stick for most of my shots last year. For instance, a favorite move was to run off of a high screen, hit triangle to do the step back behind the arc, then hit square (I think it was) to shoot. Now, if I try to do a similar move, #1 the direction I have to hit the shot stick seems picky to get into the right position and #2 I can't use square to shoot it because I get a delay / animation that hesitates. So I have to get used to doing the step back and shooting all in one motion, I think.
I looked on YouTube for a few quick tutorials last night and didn't find much that was very helpful. At least nothing as good as I found last year.
I'm sure it's just practice. If I want to keep the offensive basic and focus on drive / kick and pick and rolls, then that's already doable. I'm just hoping to get into some of the advanced stuff. One thing is definitely the same for this year... I can't get my guy to dunk to save my life (using shot stick).

do the training camp.
it seems boring and pointless, but you'll learn a few things you probably didn't know.
i'm not sure pro is the default level online... whatever default is online, we'll be using. gonna have to look into that

Re: NDLH Season 3
i still shoot with square.
biggest thing i am struggling getting used to is the step back and hop stop arent triangle button anymore.

Re: NDLH Season 3
yup... takes a minute for sure on that stuff.
just run sets and make sure you have play art on... find open shooters that can shoot. don't try to force passes to cutters, make sure you have a lane (much different than last year). take the ball hard to the hole when you have a space inside the paint, alot of times you'll get to the line at least... they really put emphasis on getting to the line it seems. use and learn some post up moves, that'll open up your whole offense. i started using the spurs with Duncan and kicking it to Jefferson from out of the paint was money for me.
i'll beat a dead horse, cause i can see from reign's post already that everyone is going to have the same opinion. the game is tweaked and it can be frustrating at first... but i'm back at the point where i feel like i was playing last years version already, in terms of being comfortable. just takes reps... and the game is awesome.

The stepback is a different set of buttons. I can do it consistently in practice, but in a game, I never do the sequence correctly. It should still be square as that's a pretty important move.

AJ, are you using the right stick to step back / hop step? Are you getting the delay/hesitation when you shoot with square after doing it?ajalves wrote:i still shoot with square.

Re: NDLH Season 3
I found out the hard way that is how you do the moves. I held down L2, then flipped the right stick to work the special dribble moves from last year and my guy did a step back setup. I don't get the delay when I'm shooting an open shot with box, but I do get it when I try these right stick moves and then try to shoot with it. The right stick does a few different types of shots, step back, hop step sideways, fadeaway, floater and the L2 modifier changes some of it, especially with layups. I used L2 so much last season, now I'm automatically hitting it and doing dumb layups, instead of dunking. I couldn't dunk last year anyway, so I guess that doesn't change for me.ajalves wrote:ReignOnU wrote: AJ, are you using the right stick to step back / hop step?
