Season 14 Regular Season Ends Monday Jan 5th at 11:59 EST
Re: Season 14 Regular Season Ends Monday Jan 5th at 11:59 EST
What he is saying dub is to get our commish points we have certain duties and write ups are not one of those duties. So we could do no write ups and still get our 5 points. He is not saying we do nothing at all, he is saying if we did nothing regarding write ups we still get our points.

I can roll with that

I think you may have been misinterpreting me Dub.DRWebs wrote:If you don't do anything why should you be rewarded? Having a pretty active one this year in DooDee was really refreshing. And I understand some help do scheduling and whatnot, but being a conference commish isn't that hard so no reason NOT to do anything when you are being compensated for what maybe 20 minutes or less of effort maybe 2-4 times through the course of the season. It's not something I am worried about but since it was brought up I don't agree with what you said, perhaps just misinterpreting you.shel311 wrote:I still stand by my opinion that I don't get how people can complain when every conference commish could NOT do all that stuff, and we'd still get all of our points.
I was speaking only in reference to the stuff we put in the conference boards, such has players of the week, big game previews, players of the year, that sort of stuff. Conference commishes are not required to do any of that. That has no bearing on our commish points.
We are responsible for tallying up stats, recaps, lots of preseason stuff we each have to taek care of with scheduling and other things before the season can get started, midseason stuff with getting lots of PMs from guys in our conference and helping them deal with whatever situation they have, and we also had the bowl previews we used to do but didn't do last season for some reason. We do more than Veni realized, as he said we do stats/recaps and anyone can do that. That is not all we do.

Shit, I quoted Dub without realizing there was another page in this post, and BFIVL cleared it up in about 200 words LESS than I did.

Maybe the requirements could change alittle. Say 3 points for doing the above mentioned. But you can get up to 5 points for going beyond and doing the write-ups and player awards. Or maybe offer a bonus to someone else like have someone do the write-ups or awards for that conference if they want and they can have a point or 2. I think there are alot of guys that would do it for free though. I know there are several times in the past I was willing to do some but I didnt want to step on anyones toes and do something the CC was thinking of doing but hadnt gotten to yet. Then before you know it the season is over and nothing was done for the conference at all. Another reason I dont do it more is its kinda hard when you are a coach in the conference to do the write-ups for your conference because you feel like you dont want to talk about any of your own players or your team to avoid seeming like your self promoting. As far as the conference involvment goes it could improve some from where it is now. But I think the league is great as and its a great way for me to get away from real life for awhile so its not a big deal to me overall.Nole4real wrote:BFiVL wrote:What he is saying dub is to get our commish points we have certain duties and write ups are not one of those duties. Maybe along with Coaches Reports, we could have Commish Reports and rate our conference commish. This would give guys the opportunity to express gratitude for the job their commish is doing or to pass along helpful critiques on how to improve. Some would simply bitch or have an 'ax' to grind, but for the most part this would be a benefit to all.DRWebs wrote:If you don't do anything why should you be rewarded? Just something to throw out there, you dont have to be a conference commish to do a write up for a conference. Ive done it in the past, Ive seen Peay do a couple for the MAC too. I dont see any reason why a CC would get upset over something like that

What could you grade us on? Our main job is behind the scenes stuff like making sure your schedule is not totally screwed, checking for stats, recaps, voting, and coaches report completion. You guys come to us privately about complaints against other coaches ( I actually got 0 complaints this season). I mean there is not a lot that you could grade us on that we are specifically responsible for that you guys see.brocam wrote:Maybe along with Coaches Reports, we could have Commish Reports and rate our conference commish. The NDL is bad ass.
The unplayed games looked about normal to me, so I didnt see a real big problem with that.
I think we have a great mix of vets and rookies in this league.

FYI guys, we DO hear whats being said here.
Every few seasons or so we get together and re-vamp / tweak the process.
Same is going on right now as we enter our 3rd leg in season 15 and get ready for off-season and Season 16 in August.
Look for a few changes/tweaks as we continue to try to keep the league the greatness that it is.
All your opinions are valuable and we thank you

One thing I thought about for awhile is why is there not an application to become a conference commish
I once wanted to become a commish and thought great reports and working with ESPN was the way there.....Guess I was wrong
So how does one go about moving up the chain of command????
Also maybe include conference commish points on the coaches contract.
I know when I was with ESPN for 2 seasons we didn't get bonus points....has that changed now???
I know this year we seemed to lower the bar on good game play espically with the Deep pass mostly due to every game you play the other team just runs drag drag drag slant post.
I fell short in a few games because I still had not adjusted in my mind that game play is more open now.
But commish wise things have seemed to get more lax maybe it will pick up maybe it won't
I say an easy solution is to just pay ESPN points to do what they are ment for....be the Media

Being a Noob, just completed my 3rd season, i never wanted to step on the toes of the Conf. Commish on doing a write up. i didnt want my CC to think, man hes trying to out do me or something.Weasel wrote:Just something to throw out there, you dont have to be a conference commish to do a write up for a conference.
